Need some info on Case XX Raindrop Dam and Mammoth

Does anyone know when Case made the Raindrop Damascus blade and Mammoth handle series? How long ago was it and how many were issued? What were they going for? Why is there relatively zero info online?

Does it have the "x" and "*" date code on the tang? It may be .... umm ... "difficult" .... to see.
