I'm looking for a "tactical" briefcase that has the following features:

  1. enough space to carry a 14" or 15" laptop, some papers, adapter and other stuff
  2. black in color and covert looking enough not to identify me as military / police / security
  3. with a carry handle on top and shoulder strap
  4. a compartment that can hold a handgun with at least 2 magazines
  5. Water resistant, enough to keep electronics safe in rain

I'll also be using it as handcarry luggage on flights so some space for a jacket / sweater and a change of clothes would be nice

What do you guys suggest?

If you leave the laptop, papers and change of clothes at home, then you can get this :D

Wilderness Tactical also make a couple of low profile bags, or Red OXX makes some bags that might work for your purposes.

@ defaultuser: nice bag, but the price is shocking LOL!

@PropThePolecat: LOL! I don't think my coworkers would like me walking into the office with something like that :)

@ BOBO: Thanks for the suggestions :)

Not sure what your budget it but check out Saddleback leather. They make some great bags and some will have a hidden compartment in the bottom. Very expensive but well worth it (I use the back pack version for work). Built extremely tough.

That "hidden compartment" is suitable for a slow draw passport or something similar in size. Won't hold a handgun. The bag could hold the weapon, but not in a manner that would allow a quick draw.

I recently ordered a 5.11 Rush Delivery Messenger Bag...looks pretty good to me. I should be getting it delivered tomorrow so I have not had time to review it yet.

Briefcase and bag are two separate items.

I have taken a well made pelican briefcase and lined it on both sides with titanium, replaced the padding and put my laptop into it. The Ti is held in place with 3m double backed VHB tape and will not come out. Combined with the laptop this will stop small arms, so I guess I am good there. Hate to lose a lap top but if I am alive I guess it all is good.

Having the pelican insert for papers that attaches to the upper lid would allow you to put a holster in there with extra mags and maybe a knife with easy access.

This case is tough, water proof, guaranteed to protect your laptop.

I have a Pelican 1490 that I carry my 15" laptop in. It's almost indestructible, but pretty heavy.

You will not be disappointed in the 5.11 Tactical Rush Delivery Messenger Bag (http://www.511tactical.com/All-Prod...ess-Tactical/Rush-Delivery-Messenger-Bag.html). I have one in black and love it. I work in a school so carrying a firearm is understandably out of the question for me but I still use the back secret panel. I store my iPod there so that the kids never know I have it with me (some of them have "grabby" hands and things have a way of disappearing). My 15 inch laptop easily fits and I carry a water bottle in one of the collapsible side pouches and the laptop power cord in the opposite pouch. I usually have a Gadsden Flag patch on the front of my bag but can quickly remove it if I feel that it wouldn't be well received by one of the district know-it-alls at a teacher education meeting or at PTA. The black color allows the Molle to blend in and essentially disappear. There are a few great videos regarding this bag on You Tube; take a look this is a great bag. :)

The Maxpedition operator tactical attache is a nice bag. It may be too large for what you want. They make a smaller version.
