well, knowing cold steel, this wont come out till mid, to late 2012. as with all the other 2012 peoducts. but this is the only one that really cought my eye as being usefull (they also came out with a shield for some reason). they only have pictures up on Facebook right now, so the websites 2012 section is currently empty as im typing this.

my thoughts on it from thisw one picture are: this will likely be along the same lines as the mini tac series, with an aus-8 blade, and pricing around $40- $30 online. it ay also turn out like the point gueard knives, and be $60. the point may be extreemly acute like on the minitacs, but also looks alot like the "Hold out" series. so it may be a bit stronger of a tip then on say, the kiridashi. im also expecting eather a larger or serrated model in the future. otherwise, i think they would have just called it the "Braveheart" mini tac, or something. its name is similar to the para-edge, and other neck knives like it.. but cold steel is doing a trend this year with the word edge. ssuch as there new "Survival edge". a large hollow fixe blade with a fire steel.

speaking of wich, there are also serrated versions of the mini tac skinner and tanto.

many of the comments on the're facebook page state that cold steel will be updating the site with specs very soon. likely by the end of today.

although it would be really nice to see cold steel bring a low cost, small fixed blade, in san mai 3. i doubt it.

whats your guys take on the new ""Secret edge"?

I think it looks like a nice candidate for use as a pocket fixed blade. Nice simple design.

More of Lynn Thompson's skean dhu obsession. I think that type of knife is pretty to look at and maybe fun to collect. I just have a hard time envisioning an actual task that another knife couldn't do better and with less likelihood of disaster to my fingers. But, as I said, it's a sleek-looking neck knife.

Buckler would make a good impact tool.

"No, officer, it's a soup bowl! Really!

And less expensive and with a handle that won't snag on the sheath.

also, cold steekl said something about "feux G10" on facebook. they say its the're own special G10 that feels ust like regular g10.... probably cost less too.

I'm going to remove the handle on the shield and wear it like a sombrero.

Just to let you all know; there is a significant chance I will be purchasing the shield.

Because even though I like to dual-wield.

What is a knight, without his shield..................

The CS Secret Edge looks just like the other dozen gimicky daggers they produce.
And come on...a shield?!?! Just when I thought Cold Steel couldn't become more mall-ninja directed.

I love the looks of the sgian dubh, generally speaking, but as far as neck knives go I'm sticking with my Izula.
