Congratulations! That is Beautiful!

Yup, reliability and re-sale value never get old or boring to me:thumbsup:
My FJ 62 pictured above, I sold it to Greg Miller-
Greg Miller son of Larry Miller & owner of multi brand car dealerships across the USA.
He owns the Utah Jazz, the NASCAR TRACK in Touelle Utah, some of Coca Cola, etc so when he wanted my Toyota, I sold .
He also owns the Toyota LandCruiser Museum located inside the property on his NASCAR track and off road course... Toyota connections are good to have. He owns 1 of every model LandCruiser ever produced dating back to the mid 1940’s.
I am happy for you!

RE: Buying a new car. There was a dealer who advertised no haggling. The price is on the windshield, take it or leave it. People left it. Even though the price was fair, people wanted to haggle. I guess it's a macho thing. They went back to the old ways. Personally, I hate it. Give me a price. I'll buy it or not.

The same goes in the exchange. I put what I believe is a fair price on an item. Try to low ball me and you don't exist.

^^^^It's not a macho thing at all IMO. These Dealers mark up the price and are apparently selling the automobiles with no haggling (Special Internet Pricing). The Toyota Tundra i just bought had a $2500 cash back from Toyota, I decided that was not enough, made an offer 2 weeks ago, and negotiated with 4 different dealerships. Agreed on a price on Wednesday June 12th and picked up the truck on friday! Total Savings $6,200 off Listed Price, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO NEGOTIATE-might save you a Helluva lot money

EDIT: Forgot to add, the dealership thru in a Pair of running Boards (Free), and discounted a 10 Year $100,000 mile (Upgraded Scheduled Maintenance Plan);)

Timing is everything when it comes to negotiating. For instance, there's a make & model which I'm eyeing up right now but the darn SUV is a brand new model, scores on top of 2 different classes (FWIW) and they are selling like hot-cakes, so if I go try to do aggressive negotiations, I will get laughed outta the dealership. But I'm patient and never keen on getting the 1st year of a very new model anyway, so fooque 'em.

In late 2020 when the current king of its class gets knocked off by another flavor of the year, that is when I'll be making my move after I see how this model fares after one+ year of being on the roads.

When I was looking at a 2004 Tacoma I went to the Santa Barbara dealer. A salesman came over and I asked what kind of a deal I could get . He pointed to the sticker with the MSRP and said, "That's the price" and he walked away. I bought the truck in Ventura.

I think I told the story before. I got a printout of the fleet prices from my company. We were looking to buy 1988 Camry. I went to the SB dealer and showed the salesman the price sheet. He took it to the sales manager. The manager came into the room all pissed off, threw the sheet on the table, said that couldn't sell me a car for that and stalked out. We went to Ventura Toyota. They said that they couldn't sell me a car for that, but made me an offer of the fleet price plus $500. We bought the car there.

Love the KTM Mike, that's going to be my next bike!

Thank you Sir,
I got an excellent deal OTD on a 2018 & still crated, EXC 500F.
Over the weekend it went from stock near 42 hp or close to a bumped up nearly 58 hp now...!

Turns out that "The Most Legal" fun a grown man can have nowadays is on a orange dirt bike out in the desert somewhere
;-)

Or on the street. I'm gonna turn my next dual sport into a super moto and rip up the roads with it!

I've been resisting; but I think it might be time to go through this process again. (I bought my last new vehicle in 2002.) Saw this thread a while back, and came back to check it out before my first dealer visit.
Thank you!

Last time I stopped at the Toyota dealership with a friend who was looking at Tacomas ... he ended up buying a Tundra because they were cheaper than the Tacomas ... by a considerable amount.

I drove a Ford Rapter damn nice looking truck ... but I wasn't really in the market to buy.

In fact I may be selling a couple trucks soon.

We are thinking of doing a two year lease on an SUV soon. Get rid of my car :(, my wife will give me hers, and then we get a three row something for her.

The Tacoma has been consistently scoring very high in the mid-size truck bracket, in fact in the # 1 spot for a few years ever since it was renewed in its 3rd generation form in 2017. The Tundra on the other hand has been stuck in the 2nd generation form with face-lifts every so often since 2007. The fact that the Toyota dealers are open to dealing on the Tundra means that the 3rd Gen Tundra is mist likely due for unveiling soon (maybe 2021?). Also with the V6 vs the V8 engines and gas consumption, a lot of truck buyers who do not really need the brute power of the V8 for higher towing and hauling capacities, go for the V6.

You are very welcome, but I didn't invent the wheel (pun ;) ) All of this is pretty much available online and on YT vis a vis the "how to" stuff.

Personally, I tend to make a conscious and hopefully smart decision when I go for a new vehicle as the days of buying and driving luxury German autos are over for me (I used to sell them). I prefer to initially lease for 3 years but with the intention to buy at the end-of-lease, if the vehicle does not turn out to be a turd! Personally, I'm a mid-size SUV oriented person so what I currently have my eyes on is the newly re-designed Honda Passport (2 rows is the appeal since I don't need a 3rd row!). However, the market is currently against me because the Honda dealers are not dealing since this model is selling fast as it's highly sought after which also means crap leasing Money Factor. I'll probably wait till late 2020 to see if it gets knocked off its lofty pedestal by just enough for me to jump in :)

So my question that I forgot to ask was when is the best time to try and get a deal on a 2019 Highlander seeing as how the 2020 model will be out in February?

Just around the time when new 2020 models are going to be hitting the dealers, say Dec 2019 or Jan 2020 if you are correct about the roll out month. Of course you also take the risk that the 19s will sell out quickly off the lots if the demand is high. Just make sure that you got the timeline correct because usually anything supplied around or after Sept 2019 can become a 2020 titled vehicle!

Actually the regular version will be in December, the hybrid is February. It's a new model.

Personally speaking, I almost never buy the first year of any new. models! The last year of the outgoing models is usually when the deals can be to the buyer's benefit but then again, the body style gets outdated!
