Hello all. New member and first post. Its my current understanding that Queen Cutleries manufacturing tools are back to work under new ownership, and please forgive if this has been covered somewhere. I believe it is Cooper Cutlery, and the new knives are branded Weed & Co.? Im very curious to know if anyone has experience with these, or if there is a general consensus yet on quality and so forth. I have a Queen Cutlery trapper, and Im kind of excited and optimistic about these new knives, given the condition of the last two Case knives I've purchased. Any info at all would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Ha, yes, just received a trapper in Buffalo horn. Bad grind on the clip, both blades not centered, gap in the liner, spring proud on clip when closed. Scratches on bolsters and shield. It’s like a bad Case knife on a GEC budget. Maybe I’ll give them another try in a few years, but wow, after the hype, really disappointing.

Ah don't tell me that! Perhaps they were under the influence of their shield while making them...

I very much appreciate the feedback. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear though. After seeing the price on these knives, I was hoping for something on par with GEC. From what I understand, this is a first trial run, so at least theres that.

From what I found googling they have a pot leaf as the shield? I'm not 13, I'd rather not advertise my use of cannabis publicly. If you're asked by a cop if you have any weapons on you this is probably NOT the knife you want him seeing unless you have extra time for a vehicle search.

Yes, I find that shield a bit strange. Not quite sure what to make of that. Hopefully if or when they are established, it goes away.

whoa, thought about trying one. think i need to wait. would like to see real pics first. and the real stinker is the crazy price differences between stores. i would be real upset if i paid high money and then just saw them for the lowball figure i came across. not a real good way to start off.

I understand Weed & Co. was an old brand back in the day, so to me kinda weird to brand it with a pot leaf shield.

People that have them haven't had great reviews on them (for the price). Don't know if they rushed these out. I hope their new offerings will be better.

I agree. You throw the selling point of nostalgia out the window when you brand a knife like you're running a head shop. Don't get me wrong, I'm very pro cannabis but not everything I own needs to have a pot leaf on it. It smacks of desperation that they did this.

Or a valid prescription for medical Mary where that is legal?

Check out Weed & Co, long-ago wholesale hardware distributor in Buffalo, NY. They undoubtedly sold pocket knives. I don't whether they had their own brand. If someone REALLY wants to know I'll try to dig out my ca.1900 very large Weed catalog. If not, I'll be glad to be spared the effort!

From what I've seen in the reviews, they would be unacceptable at FROST Made in Pakistan mystery steel, or even the sub $10 offshore Imperial's with 3CR whatever blade prices. Poor quality is poor quality, regardless of the price point. ☹️

Personally, I think there are a lot of other weed leaves they could have chosen. Poison Oak and Poison Ivy, for example, would be better than what they picked, IMHO.

We also need to clear up one thing...
These are NOT Queen knives, they are Schatt and Morgan.
Queen used to make Schatt and Morgan as their upper scale brand.
When Queen closed, the two brands parted ways.
Queen knives are being manufactured in China and owned by one of the biggest U.S. knife retailers.
Schatt and Morgan will be coming out soon, if the company survives the Weed fiasco first.

Correct. These Weed & Co. knives are being made on Queen Cutleries machinery, which was purchased from the Queen factory in Titusville PA., by Mr. Cooper. But these will eventually become a Schatt & Morgan line at some point in the future.

I’ve read a few times that this is a “practice run” to work out kinks on the machines, etc before releasing S&M. It’s not looking or sounding promising for the company right now. They have a ways to go before I would be willing to buy a slipjoint from them.
