I got one of these with a 24" handle today, and it is a much improved product. The previous ones could not replace my now-shot H&B camp axe, but this one can.... and will.

This example in hand is pretty plain, but nothing objectionable has jumped out (yet); that said, the handle has better grain than I expected.

It is considerably heavier than my old 'hawk, but I had come to the conclusion that any super-light hatchet and I needed to part ways, thus the purchase. Moving the edge back in relation to the handle makes this a far more controllable tool when I choke up on it, at least compared to the old versions. I have yet to get serious with it, but so far, I am impressed by the overall feel.

MSRP of $61.03 on the 18" and $64.91 on the 24" as of the June price list but I believe they had to put in an emergency price increase across the board just recently due to raw materials costs going up.
