New covert with questions... :-)

Darn! I can't believe I spelled convert as "covert". A Freudian slip, perhaps? ;-)

I just acquired a small plain Sebenza from jeffj at a great price. I've wanted one of these for over a year, every since I started getting interested in high quality knives. I've owned several different knives in that time, and this one has no equal. It even came with a new style clip and leather pouch. I'm tickled pink and can't seem to put it down!

So here are a couple of questions:
1. I plan on carrying the knife in the pouch and am wondering if other like-minded owners out there have removed the pocket clip in order to keep the leather sheath from wearing.
2. My knife didn't come with a lanyard, which is okay with me because of the great deal, but I'd like to put one on. Where is a good place to get lanyard cord that will fit the holes? I'd particularly be interested in colors other than black. Blue might look nice to match the thumb stud and spacer.

lagerman,
Congratulations on your purchase. You will not be disapointed! I carry my large Classic around in the leather slip sheath when I am at work, and have found that the knife carries MUCH better without the clip. If you are interested in a belt sheath for your Sebi, you should check out Gary Graley's sheaths (sorry, I'm not quite up to speed with the links yet) which are VERY SLICK! I hope to own one after I recover financially from getting my Seb.

I hear REI has some colored cord.

Aloha

I got one of Gary's sheaths (it's boootiful!), and he was a pleasure to deal with. You won't be disappointed with the man or his product.

For lanyard material you could try an outdoors store (camping, hiking, climbing supplies). Look for 3mm cord. Some places have a variety.

I tried cord in several different colors, and like one that's predominantly blue the best. Here's a scan (small Sebenza on the bottom-don't have one by itself) with the blue cord:

Hey, thanks for the info guys! That blue cord does look nice. I may have to save my pennies for one of those Gary Graley sheaths also.

I have a Gary Graley sheath comming for my large sebbie. Check out his site lagerman, if you haven't already. As for carry I like the clip and do carry it clipped on the inside pocket. For the past few days I have carried my large woody. The sheath is for a large regular that I traded for. When I can bear to part with my woody for a few weeks I will send it to Gary to make a sheath for it.

I figure I only live once so I might as well enjoy my sebbie's and that means carrying and using! Of course there is a secret to keeping it looking good; I don't carry anything else in my right front pocket except the 'benza. In my left front I carry a small 2 bladed folder in case someone ask to borrow a knife. As I said before, Ain't nobody gonna get their paws on my sebbie!

Well I would trust you fella's as you KNOW what they are about!

I carry my large Sebbie in my wasitband just in front of my right hip. If you put it at a slight angle then whether sitting or standing it is comfortable to me. I don't like it clipped in my back or front pocket because it just seems to easy to be snatched.

However, I am considering a sheath of somekind.

REI indeed has a multi-colored cord. I just got two hanks of it from them last Monday. It is primarily gray, with dk. red, white, and I think black. Not right at hand here.

Hello,

You can contact the very friendly folks at Chris Reeve Knives and they will send you a lanyard. They did for me. In fact I needed one for both my small and large.

Great folks and there ain't nothing like the original (as long as it is black that is
