New Demko FreeReign

Got the FreeReign today. It's a bad mamajama. Did an unboxing here for fun, nothing serious:

Hello,

I just got one, and while I really like the knife overall, I’m not happy with the deployment. If it’s on my belt, I’m having to reach over with my other hand and hold tight while I pull it out. I’m accustomed to being able to push down with my thumb to deploy a knife, but it requires a tremendous effort to do so with this one.

I’ve tried to break it in, but it isn’t seeming to get easier. Is this just my example, or is yours like this as well?

Indeed it’s very secure in there. I wonder if there’s a way to loosen the sheath screws using some loctite so you don’t lose them, while making it easy to draw.

Hmmm…that’s a good idea. Maybe I’ll just back the screws out a hair initially without loctite to see what happens .

Looks like a pretty cool knife. Thanks for the picks.

The sheath looks pretty worthless except for a short hike and storage. As most are in this price range; not all.
You need to pick up an after market one. Like a Spec-Ops you can use for multiple knives. Or a custom kydex which are pretty cheap.
Don't overlook the carry system. They are worth the money.

AFAIA, neither Cold Steel nor SOG ever put the end of the tang out at the end of the kraton/rubber handle.
Fallkniven did it in 1995.
Personally I think the sheath is a pretty innovative design.
Overall a nice looking knife, although I personally find the 5inch size awkward.
Not as handy as a 4inch, and not as choppy as a 7 inch plus.

The magnacut version is available now for just under 200 dollars, I am waiting on mine to show up so I can compare it with the AUS10 version as well as other magnacut blades I have. I think this will be the most affordable magnacut blade in this size, if the heat treatment is done right these knives are going to sell like crazy.
