MMMMmmmmm!!!!
I love it. Chopped some sticks. Nice size, and I like choking up under it. The ground corners are appreciated, though it's a fairly coarse grit with the abrasive they used. Understandable, given the price point. I may bring it up a step or two. The edge was serviceable for light chopping and throwing (haven't yet), but I will dial it up to scary and give it a cover.

Entire weight is 1.25lb as measured on my electronic food scale.
This one is on the 19" handle.
I rubbed some sno-seal on it to prevent rust for now. I'm almost sorry about not ordering their fancy cover, but it's not cheap. Shipping on these things is a little spendy, but it's an excellent piece. Very happy to have one, finally.

Hmmm, hearing a lot about tomahawks this morning.

Nice looking poll on that one. Might have to look in to H&B.

I'm not sure you even have to be into tomahawks to appreciate that Daizee.

Some of them definitely don't have the "skilled hands made this" look this one does.

Oh, how common is having the polls worked like that? Regardless, it adds clean and understated lines to it that make me think "axe".

Great piece of work. Thanks for the pictures too.

It's impressive what they produce for the price. Clearly this was done on a power hammer, as you'd have to in order to have so many types in full production as H&B does. I love the forged/ground finish contrast. The pictures on their site suggest the ground 'corners' are standard on all the camp hawks. Balance is very bit-heavy, like a normal tomahawk, but even with this nice poll it's still lighter than your average axe-shaped hatchet. I really want the small version now too...

I have the medium Camp Hawk on order and have the small Camp Hawk. I really like it, my only complaint is the small handle is tapered so much that there isn't much grip to it as it is so small. i wrapped some 1/2" stripped rawhide around it to make a better grip and that worked very well.

Is the small one USEFUL or just super fun?

I do wonder about handle tapers. Why not stop tapering about 6" below the head? Maybe it's a balance thing for throwing? They all seem to be made on similar templates.

With the small handle, I agree they should not be tapered so much for something like the camp axe design. I guess the taper wouldn't matter so much if throwing, but to chop and use it for other tasks the handle diameter is just too small to comfortably hold. I went with the small Camp Axe due to its advertised 1/2 lb less of weight than the medium. I am going to make a leather sheath for it that I can attach to a belt and use it for a belt axe when hunting and other things. I tested it out with the rawhide handle and it chops great, very useful tool and will be great for my purposes. I went with the 19 inch handle for the medium Camp Axe I have on order and after seeing the photos of yours I am glad I did, looks great.

Figure you can always lop 2" off the end anyway.
"No matter how many times I cut it, it's still too short!"
