Hello all, i am looking to purchase a knife for new work with some restrictions.

I am looking for a FULL SIZED manual locking knife, that has 2.5 inches or smaller blade. My work does not allow blades over 2.5 inches, but i don’t want a small sized blade. I tried Spyderco Dragonfly / Lil Native and returned both, the handles were too small & short for my comfort.

I also don’t want to buy a full sized knife and cut the blade smaller. I have no tools, knowledge or time for this (i just moved).

I also must have a pocket clip. My favorite knife is Spyderco Manix 2 LW. Also the blade steel isn’t much of a concern, as im looking for a beater. Budget is $10-120.

If i were to purchase a broken tip knife in this forum, what would i need to do? I may ask a friend to re-profile it so it is under 2.5

It is a 3 inch blade.
Not legal for me to carry into work
Yep, realized that after I posted. Sorry. The 112 seems so small after carrying a 110 for years. If I were limited to even smaller than a 112, I’d just carry a folding utility knife Milwaukee makes good ones.

Cold Steel Tuff Lite. $30. 2.5 inches. Grips like a knife way bigger than it is (as long as you're comfortable gripping the choil).

I'll second ( or third ) the motion . ☺️

Cold Steel Tuff Lite , the bigger one . They make a smaller one , too .

Very handy work knife . I use in preference to deposable blade type utility knives .

Used it to cut the pleather patch , to repair my easy chair in this pic . And many other projects .

If you’re okay with an automatic knife (switchblade), SOG makes a model with a 1.9 inch blade and a 4 inch handle for about $100.

SOG TAC AU Compact.

Hogue makes a similar auto called the Microswitch but it’s about $50 over your budget.

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw that you stated you want a Manual knife.

Have you looked at the Spyderco Dodo?

The pocket clip is tough to find in a blade that small. I have a Gerber EZ Out Jr. that is a decent knife in my opinion and USA made, although I know Gerber is not real popular here. I have also heard good things about the CRKT squid, but I don't have any experience with those.

The Squid is a great choice, a tough little knife that is small but reliable. I have used it a lot without any issues. There are also some interesting all stainless button lock utility knife folders out there imported by Mossy Oak, Workpro, Duratech etc. that use replaceable blades. The blade holder adds to the useful handle length on these (essentially the handle folds rather than the blade). These give a fairly comfortable handle with a small blade length.

Worth mentioning, since this is going to be a real work knife, the Tuff Lite is a breeze to sharpen in the field or otherwise. Straight blade angle and AUS8 is easy to work with.

If I'm out using it in place of something like a utility knife, I just carry a little Spyderco medium pocket stone with me. No problems keeping it lazer sharp all day. I can touch it up about as fast as it takes to swap blades on a utility knife.
