this one looks like it's slipped through the cracks with the Tread and Signal from SHOT '15. I know it must have came out after the LEAP which was the second newest product from LM I knew of. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread.

The Rev looks* to be based on the Wingman/Sidekick body. With asymmetric curved handles, although the site doesn't say they're spring loaded. has an outside accesible PE 420HC knife, and inside has medium straight and phillips in one handle, and can opener, file, package opener in the other. Retail for $37 means it's a few dollars cheaper than either the wingman or sidekick. No scissors. Looks like another decent budget tool from them though, but I can see why they weren't tooting the horn about it as much.

Still wishing for a cheapy that's spring loaded with a PE knife and scissors. Maybe you can build one.

pics are from LM's website

also, LM needs to start taking their product photos on a black background for their stainless models. Ouch my eyes.

I personally think the Rev is a waste of time since they already have the Wingman/Sidekick line.

I agree, wish they'd combined the stuff normal people want instead of another permutation. Scissors, plain edge blade, sprung pliers, package opener. SO basically a rev with scissors.

Very true. I just wish they put the effort into things people actually wan't like the Rebar style pliers head in the Wave or a Wave the size of the Juice models. Theirs always next year, but I have been saying that for the last few years so my hopes aren't high.

given that the rebar pliers are in the signal, (or at least they look that way) maybe the Wave 3.0 will have them. I remember when the rebar came out, there was a hew and cry over how the screw for the cutters would weaken the jaws and make it a useless tool. Doesn't seem thats been the case. Also, a juicy wave would be cool, I agree.

I think the Juicy Wave is already covered by Sketool series, at least to some degree. Pocket sized. OHO knife blade. All the tools that fit into that weight range (not much, given the OHO).

I would much prefer to see a Legacy styled tool in the Juice size and weight range. Better yet if they can get the weight in the sub 4.0 oz range. The "philosophy of use" [1] for that tool would be as a pocket carry companion to a full sized EDC knife. This frees the knife blade need to be a Micra sized pen blade and give the option for a TSA compliant tool if they do a knifeless version. Other tools & implements and the frame style should match the style of the Micra or original PST [2].

A tool of this size, sold in the $35 range would be a nice thing to put up against the standard 4 blade SAKs and a lot more useful. Need to hit that sort of size/weight sweet spot though.

[1] - Say what you want about Nutn' Fancy, this term is super helpful.

[2] - Any complaints of hand discomfort should be answered with a) on a tool this small? really? You create that much leverage?, b) cowboy up, buttercup or c) for you, there is the Juice or Skeletool.

I would respectfully disagree on that one. The Skeletool is nothing like a Juice sized Wave would be. The one and only similarity is the OHO main blade. That's it.

Hrm.... I was I thinking less in terms of actual design and more in terms of basic niche. You are, of course, totally right in terms of design.

I'm trying to picture what you are describing by Juice sized Wave. As I see it, the basic layout of the Juice is already Wave like.

Are you suggesting a version of the Juice where they loose the scales (I don't like them) and replace the skeletonized frame with the Wave's rolled stainless frame? I could see that. Not as an addition to the Juice, but as a replacement for it, actually.

I am saying a Wave exactly as it is now except the size of a Juice (say CS4).

But the Juice is significantly thinner than the Wave, no?

How do you propose keeping the same tool set as the Wave, or would you recommend dropping some tools?

Depends on which Juice model we are talking about. Either way it does not matter how thick the Juice is. I just want a scaled down Wave that is more pocket friendly in size. It really has nothing to do with the Juice. I just mentioned it as a general size reference.

The current Wave thickness is not a issue for carry. The length is.

I like the leatherman Rev its a full size mult-tool with a lot of nice features and it is being sold at a budget friendly price.

does anybody here know what retailers will be carrying the Leather Rev tool?

Because i really want one.

Sorry for the thread necro, but I just learned of this tool and this was the only thread about it. According to the video I've linked below the pliers aren't spring-loaded.

Not quite. There is no second tool accessible from the outside, so the Rev is thinner and probably a little lighter. I would almost jump on this except they've screwed up the one-hand opening feature the Sidekick and Wingman already have. I hate spring-loaded pliers, but I wanted the one-hand opening plain-edged blade. Perhaps this was made for places like Germany, where locking blades can't be one-hand opening?

I picked up a Rev on a whim at Lowe's, and I really like it. For me, it's sort of the affordable modern version of the pst or slideclip. Is it as refined as my other LM premium tools? Not at all, but for 25 smackers I get an American made no frills medium duty tool that has come in handy several times in the last couple weeks.
The outside blade IS one handed, but it is awkward. I've on more than one occasion felt that a small slip would result in a large gash in my thumb. However, it's not a big deal once the tool loosens a bit.

Will the Rev replace my ST300 for HD use? Not a chance, but the ST lives in my pack. The simple set of tools makes the Rev a charmingly near-minimalist tool for the day to day chores we find dropped in out laps.

I bought the rev at the orange box for 20 bones (holiday sale) and have been using it for the past week while painting, changing hardware, hanging doors, and some other stuff at a job. it has worked pretty well for me, comfortable to carry, I really like the blade shape (good for slicing sheet goods), and of course the price. However, the "medium" flat head screwdriver is too thick to fit in any size 2 screw ive had to loosen, and has been useless for me. The clip is also wiggly, and although not at all a practical issue, its annoying. The pliers have a tip thats fatter than those on my LM Fuse (which I love), and more aggressive grooves, but they lock very smoothly. I tried plucking a few hairs with them amd they grabbed every one. I love my fuse, but when I loaned it for two minutes to a coworker, the D1 philips bit was snapped at the tip. I think ill look into a medium size, OHO blade, belt worn tool to add to the mix. But the Rev will definitely be an out on the town carry, because I dont notice it clipped on my pocket.

Cheers,
Connor

Contact LM about the fuse, and see which model they are currently replacing it with, or if they still have parts for a fix. they'll look after you.
