New logo design works...

Today I asked kindly to my girlfriend to help me to design a logo to etch on my knives. She knows how to use Corel and she is very talented for design works. After 1 -2 hours later she sent an email of a design. What do you think of this, I liked it a lot...
Currently I only put my signature on each blade but I wanted to have more info on my blades, year and the location is the only info I wanted to put, I don't want to make the logo crowded with "custom", "knives" or "knife maker" etc. tags. Also Bodrum is almost unique in the world so I don't need to add "Turkey" also IMO...

Looks good at that scale. How does it hold up when you go as small as you'll be wanting to go? As for Bodrum...I sure didn't know it was a place name, never mind a Turkish one, but them I'm pretty uncultured.

Thanks friends for comments. I played on PhotoShop, here is how it will look. I fear the curve is too large, what do you think?

honestly, the swooping line looks like (and is) the curve used for the the top text, but they forgot to delete it. And the Bodrum reads as a last name, but clashes with the font in "Emre". There are slight tracking issues with the fonts as well. It looks like a good start, but I would do some tweaking if it were me.

Thanks for the critic, it was just in time when we were working on tweaking it and your thoughts are spot on.

I really like it but as said, I'd take the Bodrum and fit it to the inside of the bottom curve and add Turkey (i.e. Bodrum, Turkey)

Ok, here is the last tweaking job, now the whole logo makes a knife, the curve is the handle, signifying the smoothness of the job, signature goes to the edge of the knife, it can be smooth but I produce sharp objects after all , it is now more bold and eye catching, spine has the location and the year... Also there is a version for smaller knives without the curve (handle). The font will be tweaked, the gap with "m" and" "r" will be closed... So now how do you like?

I like that a lot better than the first design. I didn't want to say anything about the original design, but it just seemed too big for the little Emre. But now with it in the shape of a knife, I think it looks good. One thing you should keep in mind is do you think that the bodrum-2009 will show up when it is small?

I'll come up with an example of what I think could work and post it.

EDIT: Excuse the crude CAD drawing.

Emre, I'm with Erik and Phil - for us uncultured folks you might include "Turkey." Also, I'd recommend putting a point on that knife! I like your logo a lot; very classy.

keep it simple . You do not want the logo to draw the customers eye away from the knife itself .

While not a knifemaker I have been an art whore (graphic artist) for 30 years.
2 rules of graphic design that I try to live by:
Less is more.
Everything lines up with something else.

If I may :)
I would stack the words
Emre and Bodrum on top of each other.
Make Bodrum the same width as Emre.
Put the year on the other side of the knife.

Personally I don't like knives with logos that look like bill boards.
A discreet but recognizable signature/logo is all you need.

Oh, and you really must fix the kerning (the spaces between the letters), especially with a script font.
