Having seen some folks post pictures of the new Maserin Plow from Collector Knives, I was wondering if anyone has compared them to the large Moki Fish Owl. Both seem similar in length, shape, and design (apart from one being a slip joint and the other being a lock back, both seem like slim, lightweight sodbuster-type knives). Both have mid-range stainless steels (D2 and AUS-8).

Anyone else see the similarities?

Moki's got some of the best fit and finish in the world. The handle is very ergonomic on the Owl and it feels great in the hand. The blade tang sits lower in handle as well so it's a little more pocket friendly.

To me the steels are not similar, where AUS8 is a true stainless and D2 is at best semi-stainless. I've had D2 heat treated by Peters pit with pickle juice.

It's hard to think of knives that come close to Moki's build-quality, it simply can't be faulted. And I agree, D2 will patina from Limes etc.

I have always considered the Fish Owl a take on a sodbuster. Moki's fit / finish is hard to beat.

Plow -vs- Fish Owl
Backspring -vs- Lockbar
D2 -vs- AUS8 (nothing new or magical about either one)
4 1/8" -vs- 4"
$55 -vs- $75

Moki has a bit more of a spear shape than a drop.
Plow has lanyard hole and stonewash blade versus satin.
Plow can be taken down.
Moki comes with nice nylon sheath.

Really nothing you can't see on the product page. The Moki does feel a bit more like a gentleman's knife than a workhorse.
