These things just popped up in my FB feed. They are called Cobratec and look like cheap microtechs. Anybody seen these before or have any experience with them?

I read some reviews, they are supposed to be good, and are not that cheap, about $100 for one, but they sure do look like carbon copies of Microtech, maybe get a used ultratech for a little more? If I were going to buy a cheap OTF, go with Lightning made in Taiwan, great OTF

Thanks for the info.
Your right . $100.00 is not cheap , but compared to a microtrech the price difference is somewhat considerable.

I have seen quite a few Microtech copy "companies" lately, and being able to check the knives out at a gun and knife show it seems like they are all pretty much the same. Acceptable quality, but the blades are made of... something (they all bear striking resemblance to knockoffs and clones from Chinese websites), and the handles are some zinc alloy that's about as light as lead.

That's what I figured

Funny, that handle is the exact same as this one from ravencrest tactical, my understanding is that these are imported as parts and assembled in USA...mostly crap.

Wow. They are identical, except for the logo on the clip.

Though theses knives feel well made, they are junk in comparison to some of the more expensive OTF’s out there. They’re not total crap but... They’re made in China and have many, many names depending on who’s selling them. Knive distributors buy a whole lot of them and then slap a name on the clip and sell it for whatever they want. It was actually my first OTF that I bought and I got burnt. I paid $114 plus shipping about two years ago. I was actually just combing thru the internet to see how many different names there are for them when I came across your thread. I’ve seen them sell anywhere from $28 all the way up to $127 and go by the following names...Helltec, Heretic, (DeltaForce mine), HeadHunter, Wolf Den, CobraTech, and now RavenTech Tactical! Lol and I’m sure if I keep looking I’ll be able to find 10 more. It’s just like that tactical “milltary grade” flashlight. It’s the same manufacturer but it’s got a ton of names. I learned the hard way. You have to do your research before buying anything. I just bought the Head Hunter $31.00 with gift box 15 min ago just to compare it to the Delta Force OTF I bought 2 years ago for $114! That’s an $83 dollar difference and I got a gift box. ($28 without) Stay away from Knives4wholesale website. It also goes by other names but brings you to the same place. Though he has some good products, he also has cheap China made stuff selling for quality prices. Good luck and check out how many of those knives are out there under different names! Lol I’m amazed. Do your research before buying. Don’t be a lughead like me. Lol. ✌

I used to be a lughead all the time, bumping 2 year old threads and such. :)

ScooterG. I really didn’t think it mattered how old the thread was to comment on it. Knowledge is knowledge and knowledge is power. If I this “bumped” thread saves one person from paying more than $60 for that China made knife then it was worth it. It’s all about the motive my friend. I was pissed when I realized I got beat and I learned it right here on Blade Forums from some of the connoisseurs on here. Peace Brutha and be well! Mike

Negative on heretic. Heretic knives is far different from the brands you mentioned. They are American made and the brand is owned by the owner of microtech's son.

I saw some of these at a recent knife show. They didn't look to be too poorly made, but I wasn't going to get one. I recall they were in the $100 ballpark as others mentioned. Just didn't get the feeling they would survive for too long- probably just long enough to get homeo_O. I tried one out with mixed results- would fire out one time, and not the next. The vendor explained I was probably "limp-wristing" it. Whatever.
