3M has introducted a new belt that is ceramic
for us who grind slow . I use slow speeds to grind ti and other steels to keep the heat down. The 977 is a great belt at hi speeds and hi pressure (just not my style) .These new belts cut better and have lasted me much longer than the red ceramic 977.
They expose the grit easier. I LOVE UM..
They are the same price. They are yellow in color . CALL POP AND ASK if your a slow grinder...They are a 967 belt.

Hi Darrel and all, I got to be the test pilot on the new yaller belts. I never did try them real slow but Im sure they hold their own there. Most of what I did with them was on a 2hp 3450 motor with an 8 in. drive pulley for roughing the blades in after h-treat. I was impressed with how long they stayed sharp, and the cool cutting ability.I noticed that during use they are breaking down exposeing new grains for like new sharpness. I ran about 45 blades into it and it still cuts like new, but now Im haveing tracking problems. Pop is sending some more I will slow them down to a 6in. pulley and see if that cures the tracking problem. Thanks for the slow tip, wonder how they would work on screws in the handles? They may be cooler cutting on them also. GenO

Darrel or GenO,

What grits are available? If they have fine grits, how do they compare to the Trizacts? What is Pop's number (sorry, I know it has been posted before)?

I have 80 and 60 just ordered some 36 and 120 These are stiff back jobs. I dont know if pop can get them in a flex belt. I am hoping. For ti I feel they will be fantastic.

i think jerry has been using these for a while..he told me about yellow belts..but he seems to have gotten a job or something!! :)

Besides having sanding belts and equipment, POP's has been one of the top two sources for super cocobolo and thuya burl I've found in the last several months and his prices are very reasonable. It's nice to deal with someone who cares. BTW, Walter, at Cocobolo, Inc., is the other one.
