New to Buck Knives... which one?

Hello! I'm a new user from Italy. While a long time "lurker" over buck knives (only because they are not sold here), I've never bought one before even if I've already got a preferred one (or two). So...here's my question... Tempest or Rush? And then... plain ATS-34 (291 & 296) or partially serrated 420-HC blade (290 & 295 BLX)? I'm oriented towards The 291 Rush... Can someone please tell me a little more to help my decision?

Thanks!

Bersa, welcome to the Buck forum... Sorry I can't help you on what knife to buy... But I always tell everyone to Buy what you like.... :D ... ITE

I have both and I like them. The Rush is pretty much just a smaller version of the Tempest, so your choice is bigger or smaller. The Tempest is 4 1/2" closed, the Rush is 3 3/4". It's similar to the choice between a 110 and a 112. Which size fits you and your needs the best.

I have no use for the serrated blades, so for me, the ATS-34 would be the way to go.

Welcome to the Buck forum!!!!!!!!!

 I would lean towards the ATS-34 and the Rush myself. Buy one of each ;)

No Combo Blades!!
Pick the ATS-34 and the one that is the right size for you. For me its the Tempest.

I should have been more specific, buy an ATS-34 Rush and Tempest :D

I don't care for the partial serrations, especially on the rush, there is hardly any plain edge left when serrated.

Welcome to the forum. I understand that you have a Forum too. I don't know much about the Rush or the Tempest (I collect 110's). I much prefer ATS-34 over 420-HC. It holds an edge longer. I also like plain edges better than serrated. I like S30V better than ATS-34, but I am not sure if it is available on the knives you are considering. CIAO

Welcome Bersa, I'm along with the crowd-dont like serated blades esp semi and prefer large folders but size is up to you. ATS34 for me.

Thank you so much for all you r replies! So my first "decision" was just right... ATS-34 Rush... It will be the ideal friend for my swiss-army knife when camping and going out!

Howdy Bersa, welcome to the Buck forum.I believe you will be happy with any USA made Buck Knife you buy.Your Buck Knife will come with a FOREVER warranty! For me a plain edge blade is the way to go.

Did it! Just ordered a Buck Rush 291 - Plain edge ATS-34. It will be with me traveling and camping in Alaska next summer (and I think that next one will be a Harthook!). Thank you again for all the replies!
