I hope I posted this in the right forum....

I finally located a knife maker in Twin Falls, Idaho that made knives for each of my five sons. I bought them through a local gun store where they had been consigned by Virgil Andrews. Here's his home phone if you want one (208 734-4557). After I purchased them I had another close friend personalize them with some engraving. As you will see in the pictures, each custom sheath has an animal or other rustic image on it. My friend Merrill used the image and engraved something similar on the blade for my sons. Then he added my son's name and a foot/hoof print of the animal on the top of the handle. Two of these knives were just purchased last night, so they aren't engraves. The one that is engraved is a grizzly bear. Virgil uses DM05 steel ( http://www.kaker.com/std/ctt/html/1351.html ) and everything is strictly custom made. These three knives were $75 each for the two larger ones and $55 for the belt knife. The one knife with the eagle is a leftie and the smaller one is a horizontal belt carry... Here are some pictures. (sorry, I'm not the greatest photo taker.)

Looks like you nailed a good deal on those knifes. Beautiful customs for $75,00... wow!

Also, it's really nice of you to present your sons with these knifes. I bet they'll love them.

Thanks for the response. I'm sure most of my knives and guns will outlive me. So, I just wanted to give them something to remember the good times we shared hunting and fishing. He also makes some very nice knives with ivory (warthog tusk) handles.

That's like M2 high speed steel looking at the composition. They should take pretty good edges. I personally like M2 steel a lot.

That's a very cool thing you did for your family. Hopefully those knives will get passed down to the next generation after your kids, and the next....etc. Joe

Joe - I guess I'm just paranoid that without some keepsake my kids will forget about me.

Hey i have one of your knifes that you made and was wondering if its real hide for the sheath?

He didn't make them, he commissioned them from the above mentioned Virgil Andrews. And that's a 10 year old thread made by a member who hasn't been around in 7 years, so maybe it makes more sense to try and contact Virgil Andrews through the number the OP provided? (If he's alive that is.)

I’ve been looking for this guy for a while. My parents bought my first knife from him at the candy dance for $50 as a birthday gift. I was hoping to find him and buy another thanks.
