New world record #143 Blue Catfish

I dont know the guy that caught the fish (congrats to him ) but it is my home lake. Here on the NC side we call it Kerr lake and in VA they call it Buggs island. It was caught about a week ago. Reading the newspaper here it says the fish was 57" long with a girth of 43.5" and weighed 143 pounds. Thought you would like to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pzOwJhgDqI

It was only a couple months ago somebody broke the VA state record with a blue cat that weighed something like 109 pounds. So thats two #100 plus fish in a few months..... I bet we will start seeing more out of state tags at the boat ramps

Man, that beats any largemouth I have ever landed . . . .
Spalted, how close is this to Lake Norman ??? I have been down there to visit friends and fish Norman, but have not heard of Lake Kerr. I bet those guys had a blast trying to land that fish. Hope they had a "big" boat.

how close is this to Lake Norman ??? .

I think lake Norman is near Charlotte , Kerr lake is north of Raleigh on the state line.

Dipbait I cant say a word when they do because I have made quite a few trips to Santee Cooper in SC looking for the big one. Santee held the record for years for the big blue

That is one massive fish. I am used to seeing some pretty big Flatheads (50lbs+) here, but that is just insane.
