Nifebrite: A Glowing Review

I think it looks cool even when it isn't glowing.

Great pic! It’s one of my favorite materials GEC uses.

how long do they give away where they (or you) is hiding?

I’ve never timed it, but not long. Maybe a few
minutes?

"Nifebrite??"

Don't you mean "Beerglow"?

🤣

Nah, it was Nifebrite years before it was Barglow (not Beerglow). There was also Sunbrite Acrylic, but that was more of a yellow color in the light, and not as good looking in my opinion.

That’s what I like most about it. I just think it’s a good looking material. The glow-in-the-dark is just a bonus.

You're right, it was barglow 😬 - which also sounds much better.

I guess I think "Barglow" because that's the only one I've got. 😥

Well I had every intention of putting together an image similar to this tonight with my small Nifebrite collection, but the kids had a difficult and drawn out bedtime tonight, so it’ll have to wait.

I have enjoyed trying to work out the knives in this half-dark photo. I think the patterns are easy enough, but some of the specifics on each knife are more difficult. #71 and #89 on top there; then a couple #15s (I’ll come back to those in a second); then a spearpoint #14, I think that first one is a single blade; #68 Pony Jack; another spearpoint #14, hard to tell but I think that one might be a two blade; and finally the Barglow #25.

On the #15s, I think the first one is a clip main with a secondary blade in front (pen or caplifter?), and the second is a spear, I’m going to guess single blade but I don’t really know for sure.

Do they make 1/16 in knife scales?
Redoing an old slip joint and need 1/16 scales. I am open to suggestions as far as material.

Big fan of anything that glows in the dark.

I will dissent though and say Sunbrite is great too. It really looks so much like an knife you'd pull out of a drawer in an old farmhouse.

Does glow in the dark ever wear out?

The glow is not diminished by the number of recharge cycles so this is effectively unlimited, but the inorganic phosphors that absorb the light are rated for 20 years. After this it may still glow, but is expected to have 10% less intensity on average.
