UPDATE: Good news, the sheath arrived yesterday. It took over 100 days to make it here (bought the machete/sheath on November 10th) but it still arrived so he stuck to his word so I'm closing this one down.

Belote is IMO one of the worst sellers on ebay.
I bought a knife from him a few months ago.I paid and 3 days go by with no update or response.I never did get a tracking number from them, but they did mark my item as shipped on ebay.It took about 1 1/2 weeks to get to me.

During the course of all this I sent about half a dozen emails, none of which were answered.I will never deal with Belote again.

Here is another thread on Belote:

exactly why i always open a dispute for formalities sake and have issues like this resolved through paypal/ebay... never trust their word.

Not too late for most credit cards, and all purchases on ePrey, unless you are 1000% sure, should be by credit card option in PayPal.

I had a few good transactions with Belote about 6 mos ago. The prices were excellent. Poorfish is the one you have to watch out for. Ebay is pretty addictive. I only order online with Cutleryshoppe now.

I've had opposite experience. Poor Fish and United Outdoors best knife sellers on eBay.

I had bought several knives from Belote, then he sent me wrong knife. No biggie, sent him message. Didn't hear for 3 biz days, so sent him another one. Got snippy answer back about how the were busy and all. Whatever, sent knife back, he did refund postage and sent me correct knife. Then blocked me as buyer. Go figger.

At least you got a response from Belote. They ignored my emails on a prior transaction. They have good prices, but their customer service can be lacking. Better to go with poor fish , united outdoors and others who are proven to be reliable. My experience with Belote was just a minor quibble compared to what others have encountered, but it was still enough that I avoid them now. Link.

Poorfish sent me a knife that had been damaged from being handled in a sports store, or returned by a customer. The owner insisted it was a factory defect without even inspecting it. Took forever to get a refund and then they turned around and resold on Ebay with no disclosure of the damage. I was blocked from their site shortly after my return went through. I have heard from other knife distributors that complaints about sale of used, damaged or display knives is fairly common.
I have used United Outdoors too. Very good.
I think Knifegirl is the best though.

That's so low. Why did he need to block you as buyer as you had done nothing wrong?

Big sellers sometimes just block anyone they've had "trouble" with. Belote seemed sort of put off that I had contacted him twice.
Some sellers are really paranoid about getting negative feedback, since they can't leave any themselves. I had already given him a positive for handling the prob before I found I was blocked.

After 109 days the sheath finally made it here. At least he came through in the end and stuck to his word, which is a good thing. Oh well now I have a backup sheath. Closing this one down.

Buyers should stay away from such seller.

Hey friends,

i made bad experience with belote as well ... from his ebay shop, i ordered 2 Cold Steel Spearpoint Machetes, in the shorter 12" blade. i did order the shorter version for good reason (backpacking), but he sent me the longer 18" Blades. - When i wrote that, he replied something like that 18" blade would be better anyway ... well... :-/
