Something similar was used by wealthy people, over 50 years ago, in rural/deep forests areas in northern Romania, as universal weapon (against thieves and wild animals) and tool (for marking paths in the woods and cut firewood).
Light and scarry sharp, with a tail about 25 inchs long, they they were formidable and deadly in the hands of itinerant merchants, foresters, hunters and hunting guards, rangers, shepherds and wealthy representatives of communities.
In other areas of Romania and Europe, with slightly different forms, they were known as baltag, fokos and alpenstock (google for that names), true european tomahawks.
In fact they have a common, over 2000 years old, ancestor - the roman poll axe (google for roman axe).
My version, light, slim and unfinished )) yet,
More photos as soon as I finish it!
Thanks for waching!
