I ordered some nylatron washers for a folder the other day . After receiving them, they seem to be just a natural of white color. Question is, I thought nylatron washers are impregnated with molybdenum and this makes them a dark grey color. Am I correct?

There are different types and I found gray, green, blue but no white .But I'm not a chemist ! I wonder if they're using nylatron as a generic term and including many plastics.Or it's just nylon.

Alot of makers using nytralon washers lately. I still think PB washers are the best when it comes to folders. That doesn't include IKBS and Roller Thrust bearings though.

I have seen no white Nylatron washers.

Nylatron is a registered trade name used by Quandrant EPP. Only one company can supply actual "Nylatron". The generic term is "Molybdenum disulfide filled Nylon", and there are several companies who make that.

While there are several grades of Nylatron, all are based on Nylon. However, there are a number of polymers that are all called "Nylon". The properties vary. Some are more robust than others.

Thanks for the info. This was my first question posted on the forum. It's great to have access to all you knowledgeable people. Many thanks!

I have a few Jason Clark customs, and all are fitted with Nylatron washers. The one thing I noted immediately was they needed no break-in time like PB washers needed. Extremely slick stuff to be sure.

Interesting,
Emerson uses Nytrolon washers, and Emersons are known for being very gritty at first. All of mine have been.

Some of the smoothest folders I've ever had were Falknivens, Al Mar's and a Hinderer. All have white nylon washers.

Bob Terzuola uses nylatron on his custom knives. Per Bob, they need no lubrication. Lubrication just attracts dirt and dust. I've had mine for 2 years now and it's never been lubed and it's actually smoother than on day 1.
