Hey guys,

I am working with my nylon guy, and I am having him build me a bag for my Guyot Bottle and GSI Cup.

My idea is for just a simple stuff sack, to keep the cup on the bottle.

But, while I was discussing that with him, we sort of brain-stormed some ideas, and I realized that some people might like some other features...

Possible features could include...

Molle/PALS webbing

A belt loop

A shoulder strap

A pouch for water purification stuff

So, what would you think should be on there?

Of course, an easy answer is... Everything... But, maybe we could dig a bit deeper and figure out what would be really useful.

Regards,
Marion

The shoulder strap is a given but a pouch for water purification items would be nice.

Yeah, I was thinking something like that would be nice...

I was thinking that I could add a layer of pockets to the outside, just to carry a couple items, not alot..

A neck knife, micropur tablets, a pen and a rite in the rain pocket book, a LMF mini and striker...

Definitely want to keep it from being too much, but a couple items would be nice.

All I would want is a belt loop (with a snap or velcro) or clip - something that would let me attach it to my belt or waistband, ideally without removing the whole belt. Maybe a drawstring or flap at the top to retain the bottle securely.

If you add too much gadgetry to it, it suddenly becomes one of those giant Maxpedition things. K.I.S.S.

Yeah, I agree about getting too much added on. The PALS/MOLLE webbing gives the end user the options to add or keep less cluttered. Don't foreget a good drain hole or even a heavy duty mesh bottom. Make sure it isn't too tight because it's a pain to get cups out of some pouches. Maybe even a small ribbon/pull tab that would sit under the cup yet long enough to reach the top and allow you to pull up the cup (like some multiple battery compartments that have a small nylon strip that the battery sits on and you just pull and pop the battery out)?

I like the simple draw string top...easy access and enough retention to keep it from falling out. Plus, it allows you to have differeent lid options (adding the coffee filter and Top Top cap).

Make sure we get some pictures of the final product!

I simple design with a pricepoint around $20.00 I think the price is driven up when yuo overbuild for the recreational user. A few Molle straps for the user to expand it with a PSK if they want.

D rings for shoulder strap. I would sell the strap as an option. Some people will be looking for a stand alone bag to build around. Others will be adding this to a exsisting setup.

Those are my thoughts for right now. I will add more as they come to me.

PALS/MOLLE webbing, make the bag a squarish shape so molle pouches can be attached cleanly, and so the bag doesn't roll around when slung over the shoulder.

Agreed, keep it simple but make it expandable. As for the carrier itself I think a pouch (maybe with some compartments) for some water purification tablets/packets, some bullion/emergen-c/electrolyte packets, and a small ferro rod/lighter/match safe...things directly related to water use... would be a good idea.

Yeah, my feeling exactly...

Simplicity, Versatility, good... Options

Good Observation. Though I don't know if solving that problem is worth the extra work.

We were thinking of having the pouches behind the Molle/Pals panels...

I think w/ some pals webbing and a couple of D rings you can satisfy both camps- you want it simple leave it as is, you want to add to it- the pals webbing and d rings allows that as well

if the maker can source material that is at least somewhat close to the offerings by others (khaki, foliage, black, od, etc) it would make it more attractable as guys may already have pouches and bits already

I like that thought process.
