Oakley Watches.... any good?

I'm looking to pick up another decent watch and some of the Oakleys have caught my attention. Wanted to see if anyone had any experience w/them either good or bad. I have 2 pair of Oakley sunglasses and love them, but does a nice eyeglass maker know how to make watches?

I prefer analog watches, but digital might be ok too. I currently wear either my Ti Lumi Nox or my Rubber Banded Lumi Nox. Both are VERY durable and keep decent time.

I'm not looking to spend much over $200 or $300 if I can keep from it. I know da'bay has some for decent prices... but wanted to get some opinions.

I also have large wrists and have had trouble w/some watches bands being too short... so keep that in mind.

Thanks.

I have one oakley watch (Having always loved and owned their glasses). got it duty free in Australia for $155 USD a couple of years ago. Damm battery went out or something, because entire display dissapearred. have yet to send it in for fixing... approach with caution!

Thanks for the info... keep it coming.

hkbladelawhk... I have two Luminox watches and they're great... just looking for another watch to add to my rotation and thought some of the Oakleys looked pretty cool... but for the $$ wanted to get opinions f/people in the know. :)

FWIW, Oakley doesn't "make" watches anyway - they'll be subcontracted to a manufacturer in China. Take your budget and get a Seiko, Casio, or Citizen. Decent quality at a fair price.

They do have Swiss parts too. A buddy of mine works there and prototypes the watches and sources the parts. He's always travelling to Switzerland as well as China. They have some pretty cool injection molded titanium ones. I have an early stainless one, I believe it's called Crush, and it's pretty heavy. It holds up well though.

OK, how about "sub-contract"? ;)

If you want a gun, buy a Smith & Wesson.
If you want a knife, buy a Spyderco (or....)
If you want sunglasses, buy Oakley.
If you want a watch, buy a Seiko (or...)

...and if you just want "cool", buy whatever suits your fancy! :)

My Blade2 bought in 2010 broke. Didn't drop. Just stopped. Tried to replace the battery - no luck.
Wouldn't recommend.

Seiko mechanical autowinds are practically indestructible. No battery to fail. No kinetic movement to fail. Any Seiko with the 7s26 movement will prove to be a tough reliable watch.

Have an orange monster and a 5 w/ the 7s26 caliber--absolutely the best for way beyond the price; better timekeepers
than my seamaster or GMT....

Huge fan of Oakley sunglasses of which I have several. Great quality and frames for every taste. Wear them almost every time the sun is out.

Not a huge fan of their watches .....or rather the look of them, as I dont know that much about them.

In any case, I would prefer a Casio G over any Oakley watch.

Nope, guess not. Just look at the mess, that another of my favourite brands made out of their recently introduced 'watch.' What a horrible and tacky looking watch.

They make sunglasses to a very high standard and their sunglasses are much used in aviation circles (amongst other customers). The quality of their lenses and frames are outstanding and some of the very best on the market, so Im somewhat surprised, that they choose to go in that direction (below).

As mentioned above, Id go for a G over an Oakley watch every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
In regards to large wrists, Id recommend that you get a set of spare lugs and retrofit a MaraTac strap from the web.
The MaraTac straps are longer than the average factory rubber strap and can further more be had in an extra long strap for use over a sleeve, if you find the standard strap too short.
I have used the set-up for kayaking for years summer and winter and it works great.

That the MaraTac strap is one long strap, loops through both lugs and makes sure you wont lose your watch, whould one pin break, is just an added advantage.

Thank you for this. People who aren't into watches don't seem to realize that there are actually very few companies that make watches. Just a spec sheet for a Chinese company to produce. produce
