I collect Schrade and Schrade Walden knives, but enjoy coming over here to look around every now and then. I came across a nice 301 from 1966 to 1967, the years Buck contracted the 301 from Schrade.

Not 100% MINT but excellent condition.

For sure it has the 1095 high carbon steel blades. Stamped Buck on all three.

It came to me packed in a little baggy like Schrade did. Does anyone know what the original package Buck sold them looks like?

Nope, they are stainless steel. No Buck slipjoints contract or in factory, were made in carbon steel.

All 3 blades stamped "Buck" is a second model Schrade contract.

That's one heck of a nice one BTW, nice score!!!!

Well... shows you how much I can tell about blade steel. There is not a lick of tarnish on the blades, or springs, so it stands to reason. Thanks for the correction Bear Claw.

But Zach,
This old American made stockman was made 42 years ago, yours was made a couple of years ago. Things have a natural inclination to change a little bit over time..........Save up some $$ and get a new AM Dymondwood Stockman from Buck. But go to knife store and look thru all the boxes and get one with nice light grey and matching scales. You will have a knife that with care will last 42 or more years.........300Bucks
