What a blast from the past! I'm still working my way through boxes from my parent's estate and of course, I got all the kitchen knives and sharpeners. This one brought back memories, seen one of these before?

Can you dig the lettering from the 60's baby? :D

It still works fine, I love using something with nostalgia, memories, and still works well!

Those are great ,I have the big set with four longer rods in two grits .I love mine I found it on ebay after a long search for the same one my father used when I was a boy.

I have a set just like that though the sticker on mine is a bit more worn. I doubt it is as old as you think. Mine was purchased new in the early 1980s.

Those were the days before safety guards.

I remember when I got my first Crock Stick, I though I had died and gone to heaven, It got me hooked on sharp knives forever. I think I still have it somewhere here.

Well, they may be 80's fonts - but they gotta be left over from the 60's!!! It reminds me of The Dating Game and Laugh In! :D

And Batman and Bewitched and ...

I have no idea how long they were on the market, or if you can even still get them. Yours could be from the 60s?

One thing I am fairly certain of is that if they are still making these things, the new models probably have a safety guard on them. In a careless moment 20 years ago, I cut the holy hell out of my hand while sharpening on mine. I am the guy that uses the guards on the Sharp Maker EVERYTIME.

Those Crock Sticks do work really well as sharpeners (I have a nice scar to prove it)!

Check out the "Pat. Pend." on this old set sold by Case (shown here being used to apply microbevel at just about any chosen angle):

I truly prefer these over Sharpmaker, the rods are longer and more consistent, and wood base more solid, even the skinny one Case used.

the convex edge may be IN now but for every other knife these are the answer. fast, smooth, and extremely sharp edges. i love mine.for at least 20 years!
