Hey,
The juice just arrived in mail but the Phillips head screwdriver does not have a back spring (like all the other tools) and the seller doesn't know why.
It is suppose to be like this? And if not, can I install one myself?

No, it's not supposed to be that way. At some point the backspring broke and wasn't replaced or repaired.

I suppose you can fabricate or replace it yourself, or you can possibl7 inquire if it might be covered by LM's warranty... I don't recall hearing of them ever turning down a warranty repair.

Absolutely the best warranty, ever. They never even asked for proof of purchase. People used to take advantage by buying a beat to hell user for next to nothing and sending it in, getting a new one back at no charge. Time was you could send in roadkill and get a new cat back :D . But I think they tightened up things lately. Even so, I believe they would fix yours. Send it in and see what happens. Ask for yours to be repaired rather than replaced, unless you prefer the newer version.

I know that this tool is discontinued.
And I don't want the newer version...
Where can I talk to them?

Absolutely amazing warranty.
And no, I prefer the old model.

I prefer the old model too, but have the old Juice S2 and the new Juice CS4. Here are some pics of the phillips driver spring from both. I'm assuming the new S2 springs are similar to the my new CS4. The springs are VERY similar in dimension. However, first hand, the old S2 springs look a little thinner. However, it may just be that they radiused the edges more on the older models, giving the appearance of a thinner spring. If you sent yours in I don't know if they could replace the old spring with a new one. It might be possible, but I don't even know if they would attempt it. You might want to ask them.

As much as I like the old ones over the new, it's still a tool, and I would take a new "fixed" model over an old "broken" model any day. I understand that there is a bit of emotion and art to many of us multitool/knife/etc. collectors. But I can't fault the company in prioritizing the "tool" part of their CS.

For the record, I don't know how they "lost" that spring. I would assume they broke it from misuse. Using my old S2 about 3 years ago, I had to replace the window locks of four old windows (you know the old kind that slide up and down). It was a spur-of-the-moment fix before showing a property, and I didn't have my tool bag. The each lock requires four wood screws, about 1" long (I think #8's). Half of the holes had pilot holes, the other half did not. Although a nice screwdriver (especially a ratcheting one) would have made the job easier, forcing the eight #8 1" wood screws plus another eight with a pilot hole was very controlled and comfortable experience, more so than experiences I've had with larger other multi-tools over the years (SAK couldn't fit the area, SOG and larger LM don't feel as comfortable in this role to me). No problem with driver, spring, rivets, etc.
