I have bought five Old Timer folders which I believe are excellent knives at a reasonable cost.Last week I purchased an Uncle Henry just because I had a few extra bucks and was amazed at how differently the blades opened up.My Old Timers are fairly tight and the Uncle Henry very smooth.I was wondering if there is any difference in the way the two are manufactured?

The Uncle Henry and Old Timer knives are both manufactured the same way - except the Uncle Henry knives have stainless steel and the Old Timer high carbon blades.

If anyone's interested, I've got an 897UH premium stockman I'd be willing to sell at a good price.

Anyone have a 150UH Sharpfinger with the + steel and staglon handles??

Sorry for interrupting.

The 1095 steel holds an edge a good deal longer than the 440A of the "+" steel. A little vegetable oil will keep the carbon steel form discolouring (Canadian spelling)excessively.
