I have Rapala filet knife that I use often in kitchen, and was wondering what steel its made from.Knife is about 25 yeRS OLD,and performs well for kitchen stuff!

I also have an old Marttiini/Rapala (actually made in Finland) that I've used in the kitchen for years. Don't know what the steel is,but it has held up well. Also bought a new Rapala a year of so ago and it is not the same: poorer quality steel, barely holds an edge. It has been consigned to the drawer and not used. Hold on to your old one; the new ones are not nearly as good IMHO.
You may notice that yours likely says "Made in Finland" whereas the new ones just say "Finland" - don't know where they are actually made.

I bet no one knows, because, because, back then, no one cared. It wasn't a selling point, nor did the internet exist to promote the steel-of-the-week mentality.

I just "googled" Rapala and all it says is European stainless steel; so who knows.

Each Fish 'n Fillet features a full-tang Swedish stainless steel blade with the classic rapala reinforced birch varnished handle
