Did you get one of the glow in the dark end cap with the new one? For a 18650 light it sure throws a lot of light in a small package.
I did not. I've been pretty impressed with my Olights though, now that I know not to carry them in pocket unlocked. I do prefer butt cap buttons for in pocket instead of the side switch. But, the light works a lot better than the thrunite I had so I'm willing to suffer with the lockout for EDC.
I think I'm up to 8 olights now, because of the bundle deals during their sales. 3 EDC sized lights, 2 outdoor lights (perun big and little), and 2 of the Obulbs that were "promotion bundle" things that work better than expected but could use better battery life and then a tiny keychain thing that is lost in the house after telling my toddler it's his light now. All were bought through the Olight Store.
The neat thing about the replacement is I told the customer service gal what happened, in full disclosure, and she's said, "yeah, you need to use the lockout. We'll fix it for you this time still (just no more being a dumby sir)." I just wanted to see if I could buy replacement parts after finding out it was my own stupidity for frying my pants and light. I've not had such a powerful light small enough for pocket carry before, lesson learned for sure. Still have the pants and light, BTW.
I had to read the manual to figure out the lockout because I've always skipped over that section for previous lights, often much less powerful or used on my bicycle so there was no need. It was really simple once I figured out all the "hold for this longs" and "press this many times in sequence" and what not. That's partly why I have more Olights now I think, they operate the same and I don't need to remember how to function the different lights. I'll give some credit to my old thrunite, very simple to use.
My serfas bike lights could use to standardize their operation though. Sometimes holding the button turns it on/off, sometimes it cycles the modes. Small thing, but annoying sometimes.
