Hi all,
In June I will be exploring Scotland on motorbike and I'm wondering what knife is legal to carry there.
I've read in an old thread (2000):

No fixed blade or locking folder of any size, but slipjoints under 3 inches are OK

is that still valid?

bye bye

Correct.

Fáilte don Gaidhealtachd! ("Welcome to the Highlands!")

Hi maximus otter, thanks for the warm welcome, is that Gaelic?
I will visit Skye and stay in Carbost for three days (a few yards from Talisker distillery :D ....).
So much looking forward to see Skye!
Where are you om Skye and do you have tips?

You need one of these with an over the back carry system if you want the locals to respect you Jimmy.

Yes. Get a Spyderco UK Penknife. It's a very nice knife. In fact, it makes you think whether you really need a lock.

Nice blade that pen knife. But my Victorinox fits the bill perfectely and has the advantage of the tools incorperated.
Happy easter!

Picked up a Victorinox Pioneer (Alox) this afternoon. I'm very impressed with this 'Scotland legal' folder.

Not to open a sore subject... but here again is the problem with LAWS.....

They outlawed guns in England, Australia and the like. Now they've had a surge in knifings in Scotland and they outlawed them. Whats next the Spurtle?

God Bless the USA....except for California, they have severe gun laws and now they are also working toward outlawing knives.

Do not get caught carrying a illegal knife in Scotland area. Use a different form of protection there such as a strong metal ink pen in you pocket. Its placement depends on your aim and its very effective. Not condoning violence at all here but thinking about your safety is the key.
