Hi,

I just bought a handmade knife at the Branson, MO knifeshow and hammer-in. It is a beautiful Damascus drop point with a fossilized walrus handle, buffalo horn spacer with Damascus hilt and buttcap. The maker, Craig Stekee, Stek knives used a term for the handle, I think it was ooslick, anyone heard of this term before? Am I spelling it wrong? Any reference or threads about this material? Any help much appreciated!

Thanks guys. Ya know, that's what I thought he said, but wasn't ready to ask this nice gentleman I had just met to repeat that. Is this a widely used/avaliable material?

Good information. I don't know why, but I don't feel too comfortable holding a knife handled in some animal's wee wee bone, fossilized or not. No Oosik for me.
