Opening CRKT CEO Demo

Hi All,

I'm sure not many here are having an issue opening the CRKT CEO.
But, it seems a bunch of Youtube Influencers are hurting their thumbs trying to open it.

I ordered the CEO when it first came out off Amazon and it was backordered, then canceled.
I re-ordered last week and it came today. I lot late to the party I know.

But, I did this small vid to show it opened smooth with the right technique.

...I'm speechless

I’m not.

Only CRKT could screw up a thumbstud linerlock knife so badly that people need a freaking tutorial to open it.

Tip-down only, bladed in 8Cr13MoV, and such a bargain for only $40

You know, roughly the price of a Civivi, Stedemon, or Maxace, all three of which have better QC and materials, and are in the same region of manufacture.

I realize this might derail this into a CRKT bash thread, so, I should note that it was good of the OP to make the video.

A lot cheaper than a FACT and will open letters and boxes just as easily. For $40, it is a fun. I'll carry it a bunch, use it rarely. More an accessory than a knife.
:)

And thanks for the recognition of effort. ;)

Looks like a lot of effort for not much in return. I've never owned a CRKT or considered one so my opinion is probably moot.

Oh well, I'm sure there are plenty who enjoy your effort in making a vid. Cheers

Doesn't seem that complicated.

That said, it took me what seemed like "forever" to figure out how to release the ILS "safety" on the Ikoma "No Time Off" so that you can move the liner lock to release/close the blade. It's simple when you finally figure that out too. It's the figuring it out which is the problem. LOL! ;)

You have to use your thumb to pull down the little tab in picture before you can then move the liner lock w/your thumb to release/close the blade. This has to be done in a,single movemebt Just takes practice but it's a real PITA until you get the hang of it.

Always have to "re-learn" how to do it each time I take the knife out of the case, which I seldom do since I have so many other knives that I own that I prefer to carry.

I dislike thumbstuds anyway but, a thumbstud knife that you have to have 'just the right technique' to open? No thanks, so far as CRKT knives go I'll stick with my Swindle.

I could live with the difficult opening, but the CEO is too small for me.
My Argus requires you to push straight up, and it rattles. They made this more complicated then they needed to. It had a lot of potential.

Its a cool thin knife that looks fun, albeit a crkt, but im lookin at the positives. I think you figured out the puzzle!

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Haters gotta Hate.
It's not a hater thing... They have many faults as a company. You can read threads on the forum here constantly complaining of the poor heat treatments, shotty quality, materials, design etc. And they are overpriced for that product overall. It doesn't help that several Chinese manufacturers make far better products overall at the same or lower price points. And that's sad for crkt because most of there products are made in China as well. They just need to use better factories for there products and stop going after lowest bidders. Well that an actually engineering a good knife. They use gimmicks to trick people into the product.

I got a CEO to occasionally carry it in my shirt pocket. Never had a problem with opening it. I still prefer to carry a Zinker in my shirt pocket.
