Anyone tried the Opinel 6 !?@ inch folding saw. I like their knives but never tried the saw. Thanks

I've had one for about two years now. it's great!

I've used it for garden work, pruning, some camp use. Cuts very fast. You need one to go with the knives.

Have one..... used it.... works great..... worth every penny IMO.

So the Opinel Saw is roughly the same size as the Opinel No.12 knife (with a 4 and 3/4 inch blade)?
Anybody have a Fiskars and an Opinel saw?
I need a saw but i'm torn between the two.

Beautiful double bitted hatchet by the way. is that a Marbles or a custom?

Every time i see a Grohman it makes me want one. I'm thinking next spring i might special order a carbon steel flat grind Canadian survival knife from them.

Ive had the Fiskars/Gerber a few years longer than the Opinel.

The Gerber is a little lighter weight because of the plastic construction. It cuts like a crazed beaver.

The Opinel seems a little sturdier, cuts like a crazed beaver.

I haven't tried any side by side competion, but both zip thru wood very easy. I think it comes down to personal prefference, as both are great saws. Heck, we're not talking custom knife prices here, buy both and have some fun.

Have not used both. Many folks here praise the Fiskars saw however.

Hatchet is a Lee Reeves custom. Do a search and you will come up with a gaggle of info.

The Opinel saw works great. I've had mine for several years. Not sure who's carrying them online these days.

Thanks guys. I quess I will try one. I found them at Smokey Mountain Knife Works. They say its in stock. I think I ill order the saw and the #8 Garden knife as someone here says it has the best handle of the Opinels. Thanks again:thumbup:

Bensbackwoods on ebay sells them too. I've bought quite a few things from them, good prices and good service!

I got my small Opinel saw (they make a big one, too) from SMKW recently. I confess I have not used it yet, but it sure does look good. Opinel makes some SERIOUS BARGAINS! I'm probably the Opinel nut who was promoting that #8 Garden Knife. :D

I ordered the #8 Garden knife and the small saw. The Opinels that I already have are Carbon steel. I see that they also Have some SS ones. I don't know when they started that.

The Opinel saw is part of my backpacking setup:

I didn't like the original handle shape, but that was easy to remedy. It cuts well.

Cool pics - just added the Opinel Saw to my "must have" list.
