I'm a big fan of Opinels, cheap, practical and I love the simple design/natural materials. The carbon blades sharpen up a treat too!

The No5 is the 'normal' UK EDC of choice, with a blade less than 3" and non locking

I however like the bigger, chunkier Opinels, so I modded a number 12

:D

Here's how it turned out:

I have defied the stupid UK knife laws in the past and would if I lived there.

Carried a BM AFCK without the pocket clip last time I was there. And literally that was the last time I will ever visit. I can't tell if I'm more sorry for you or for the trashed Opinel you modded just to fit in with a herd of bleaters.

Well done, I'm sure the point of this thread was to bash the knife laws of the UK or else the OP would've titled it something related to what he actually wanted to talk about.

oh wait...

Your post is caustic and unnecessary.

OP: well done with your mod  Finding the right knife for the job and modifying it takes more ingenuity than I have for sure, and if you're happy with it then you must've done a good job. Ignore the troll

I really like that mod. There is a thread dedicated to Opinel mods somewhere and I think this would fit right in. The modified handle looks really comfortable.

He self-proclaimed its "awesomeness." I find it a pathetic ruination of a classical French folder. All to comply with state mandated emasculation. That's a far cry from "awesome."

I'm not trolling. I'm refusing to celebrate or congratulate such "ingenuity." I feel pity for the guy and I sincerely mean it. He's politically oppressed.

Next time, just exclaim, "Good job on making your chains chafe a little less!"

Absolutely brilliant. You turned it into a useful wharncliffe folder. Well done indeed. Pay no mind to the unfortunate individual who refers to Brits as bleaters. I'd have a few choice words to say, but I will hold my tongue. However, I will say to any foreign knife enthusiasts visiting the UK, it is what it is. Stay within the legal requirements when carrying and you'll have no problems. When in Rome do as the Romans, and all that.

Looks pretty sweet to me.

Opies are cool knives and not exactly super expensive so why not do something different with them?

Let's not turn this into a political thread or it won't last very long. There's a separate sub-forum specifically for knife laws.

Good work, Ozzy. You made a pretty cool little knife!

I will not tolerate this kind of trolling. This is a knife discussion. Take the politics and shove them. Bashing legitimate work and bashing other countries is disgraceful. Penalties will escalate.

When you see a violation, especially one so extreme, DO NOT RESPOND ON LINE. Go to Report Post and let us know. I would like to just remove all this but then no one learns how to handle it.

Your posts in here have nothing to do with knives. Stop breaking the rules, which you should be familiar with considering you've been here for 12 years.

Well, that is different. But if it works for you that is all that matters. I bought a spyderco ukpk because I am not a fan of a lockback. If I ever get across the pond, I'll be ready!
I have a #8 opinel, is the blade on the 12 really that much thicker? It's a cool mod you did, thinking it out and following through. I use my opinel as a steak knife, no mod needed here in the states.

Take your stupid political bullshit somewhere else.

You did a great job with that knife and turned it into something useful for YOUR situation.
Nicely done. I'm sure it was a lot of work, but well worth it.
:)

Really respect the dedication to making the tool work for you. Is it OK to say I'm just sad about the circumstances, though?

Lol. The big dog already barked. Who are you, chihuahua?

I'm another big dog, so if there is another disruption, there will be some infractions handed out to those that insist on acting like children. Fair enough? There is absolutely no need to do this, do not drift threads.
