Opinel has come up with a super simple "add on" fork & spoon which I think I need....🙄
Love the simplicity.

Interesting.... 🤔
Might be a little more difficult to tote than a Spork or "camping" cutlery set (butter knife/fork/spoon) on a carabinier hooked to a belt loop, but I can see people getting this and storing them in their mess kit, with their nesting pots, or in their picnic basket, depending on their activity.

I see the full kit comes with a N°8 Opinel. (not specified if Carbone or Inox ... I'll guess stainless)
The description says the wood handle 2000 ring lock. Does that mean it is not compatible with the pre-2000 models?
They have a just the fork and spoon set for 10€ less ... I really don't "need" a second N°8. There's nothing wrong with my c.2015~2016 Carbone N°8 ...
(Where did I put my CRKT SPORK? ... suppose I should look for it.)

If only I had a second knife😜

I think it’s pretty neat!
Most people here would, but I'm not sure about the average person.
To me it just seems weird to turn my knife as a spoon or fork handle, it would be better if they just made an opinel that was a folding spork.

not being able to use your fork and knife together makes it useless in my mind.
I bet this would drive you nuts, then… 🤣🤣:

Opinel are going to be gutted when they read this & realise it's useless , I mean who ever uses a fork without a knife?.....
Best reason ever to carry two knives, win win 😄

Honestly when I first read your post I thought, he is right. What a pain! Then I realized I can carry another knife.

But seriously, I think it’s neat but wouldn’t buy them for myself. I can carry a fork and spoon just as easy as these attachments. I actually have a double ended spoon+fork that when paired with my opinel is more practical.

Cheers!

Same here, I originally had a plastic "spork" that I replaced down the line with a titanium one.... Titanium was total overkill but what the heck! Agreed it's more practical.
Still want the Opi one's thought 😆.........

I can imagine wanting a fork for plenty of foods I wouldn't cut, and wanting a knife for prepping food before cooking. Get the cutting and the eating out of the way separately.

I don't really need the knife while eating scrambled eggs and pancakes, but it'd be useful for prepping sausage, peppers, and onions for the eggs before cooking as an example. I'm going to have the knife for food prep either way, this just gives a novel option once it's served.

Tons of other options as others have pointed out but I think it's neat

It looks like the locking ring will close over the short leg of the utensil and hold it to the handle.
They're all sold out at the site that came up when I googled them. I don't get it. If I'm carrying that much utensil separately, why not carry separate utensils and leave the knife independent?
Compact flatware is an area of remarkably strong and finicky disagreement, though. One grave authority even said there's no need to carry a spoon at all, because you can make one at every bivouac out of a freshwater clam shell and a stick.

Yes, it has to be a No8 that has a lock ring that will "lock" with the blade closed.
So older Opi's without this feature won't lock the fork/spoon in position, you can make an older ring lock with a little filing or I imagine slightly bending a leg on the fork/spoon would make it "wedge" in the knife..... maybe.

Cool. 😁 My old twist left or right to "lock" the blade open will also "lock" the blade closed ... Though I believe I'll stick with the "camping" flat wear and Spork(s) I have.
Haven't found where my CRKT Spork is hiding yet, but I did locate one of my two Marbles (no MR number) Sporks with folding can opener. 😇

The piddly little spoon is so often the downfall of this sort of thing. The Chowlite pictured would make me happier if the spoon end was just a spoon of decent capacity.
This no. 7 Coghlan is my favorite Opinel.

I keep one of the big Swedish Army nesting sets at church.

You won't catch me fooling with any camp flatware gimmicks!
