Been wanting to buy a small keychain knife.
The Statgear Samurai Knife has a D2 blade and a liner lock. Price is great at under $20
I was wondering about the quality.
All the Spyderco and other companies use a softer steel.

I would trust a Spyderco to perform better than a "statgear" if blade hardness is your concern.

You generally get what you pay for. I'd pass on the cheapo and buy something with a known name and quality.

Says it's 440c.

You can get 36 knives in a jar for just a bit more ($19.99) and I bet of nearly equal quality.

You may want to put something more practical on your key chain. You might decide to leave a SAK on your key chain for the rest of your life.
D2 (tool steel) will rust a lot quicker than SAK stainless steel.
Put the cool knives in your pocket.

Leatherman Micro should be considered if you are looking for keychain tool

Exactly how much work do you expect to do with your keychain knife that would require a very highly wear resistant steel, and what circumstances would lead you to need this?

Never seen this before but have some thoughts.
Although one review claimed it was Made in USA, at that price point I am skeptical. No mention is made of CoO on Statgear's site.
My guess is that it is China manufacture and the steel quality could vary.
Frankly, at that price I don't think it really matters what anyone thinks about them. Give it a shot and see how it holds up/performs. I can not imagine the tasks a knife of this size would be handling to be too difficult so steel type/quality may not be much of an issue at all.

This version is about six times the price you mentioned, it says it's "supreme" right there on the handle. It has the same steel and handle as the one you're talking about. I'm sure it's not a generic pattern made by an OEM that lets just anyone put their name on it....

The "Supreme" models are also Statgear. Looking at the specs they look identical. Same "Pocket Samurai" on the blade in Japanese.
A mystery as to why the huge price difference for both aluminum versions.

Say you at the local pool hall & somebody gets into a disagreement & ends up with a 7 ball stuck down their throat.
You whip out your trusty keychain knife to perform an emergency tracheotomy. While everyone else is marveling at how a 7 ball found it's way into someone's mouth in the first place,
you get to be the hero as you carve up the poor soul's throat with your Spyderco.

Once all the videos have been captured on the cell phones & you proudly display your Spyderco to all the world - I betcha Sal will donate a new high end Spyderco to you!

While I have no doubt Avi from Stratgear would be equally as generous - his top end stuff isn't nearly as expensive :D :D

I bought a Statgear just to check it out and it wasn't that great of a knife. I ended up giving it to a non-knife person so she could have a box opener to keep in her purse.

I really like the Kershaw Reverb...great little keychain knife

The Kershaw Cinder in copper is a great little knife too...

I've never handled one but the Kershaw Pub looks kinda neat also

Any of these would be better than the Statgear for right around the same price.
