So, what do you guys think of Cold Steel's use of Grivory in their Nightshade series? Any one here own any of these knives and could attest to the accuracy of CS's videos? Are these really as tough as shown?

Thanks.

Yes, they will do what the videos show. They are more than enough for what they were designed to do. So long as you don't consider them to be a primary knife, you'll be okay.

I'm looking at the Push Blade II.

Seems that the tip is reinforced and the tip issue may not be a problem here.

I have one of those "grivory" push daggers, which I bought on a lark. I would beware the legal repercussions of actually using one of those things though. If you stick somebody with that, you're gonna get worked by the prosecutor.

I ordered a CS Factory second and they sent me a free Nightshade Tanto..I have never used it I just threw it in my car but it would do some damage in a self defence situation but otherwise I cant see any other uses for it.

Would you say it's a robust knife and tough as advertised in those vids?

Thanks.

I wouldn't really call it a "knife"- as it doesn't really have an edge- but it does have a point. And you could certainly stab a person in the gut with it, which is what it's really designed for. "Grivory" is just another word for "FRN" or "Zytel" or "fiberglass-reinforced nylon", IIRC, which is plenty tough. It's roughly the same stuff Glock receivers are made of. I haven't watched the "demo" videos of it, but that thing is certainly strong enough to land you in Federal prison if you try to carry it onboard an airplane.

Interest in these is out of pure curiosity. Like the other member said: money probably better spent elsewhere.

Thanks.

They're cool toys. I like mine. I keep it in the medicine cabinet in my bathroom in case a zombie tries to attack me whilst I'm showering.:D

great looking little blade

one of my droogs smashed his into a dead deer and it worked ok

BUT

Moonwilson really has it dead on...If you stick someone with that thing, you will play all kinds of worry with the cops

The fact that our country still allows us to produce these knives justifies the purchase of one. The only purpose I see for having one is getting through a detection system what you otherwise could not. There are not many non-government detections systems out there -therefore its purpose would seem to be "fooling our govt" -that is liberty.
They may be collectable one day if they ever become strictly illegal.

Honestly, the last thing I cared to discuss in this thread was any sort of government deception. All I wanted to know if these plastic "knives" are as robust as advertised. Please keep the gov't comments out of this thread.

Thank you.

Yes they are as tough as advertized. Yes the tip on the push dagger is re enforced. There's a MA supply store here. I couldn't resist.(9.99) I keep one in the shower behind th shampoo. just sits there and never rusts. extra protection that knobody knows about. also have 2 outside under some brush. (You never know). And NO I don't think you'll get grilled if you and/or family where attacked in your own house and you used one. ( Except cali and all north east states) I think you Do not have a right to SD in a lot of states. You have to wait for the cops or run. Here we shoot, then call for the coroner.

s#it man... Over in Iraq, I kill someone... I get a medal! Over here in CA :(

completely non detectible knives that any psycho could walk onto a plane with? No Thanks. When I found out about these "knives" from CS, It made me hate them even more.

Blackfeet, I'm very right wing oriented and agree that the government has too much power, but what you're saying is nuts. I will leave it at that.

I have to laugh whenever someone mentions these knives, if you can call them that, because I find it incredibly funny that a company called "Cold Steel" sells plastic knives.:D I'm starting to think Cold Steel owns stock in Grivory, since a lot of their wares feature Grivory handles and Grivory blades.

This line always disturbed me a bit...How many companies would willingly make a hopefully undetectable shank? Design wise, I am a bit curious in their execution. Do they even bother with sheaths if only the points are sharp? I imagine if they came with sheaths these 'letter openers' suddenly become something meant to be carried, which is a company liability.
