Just looking for opinions on this knife because I am the market for a small neck knife (for utility and not really defense). Also wondering if there is a small quality belt knife out there with a Kydex or plastic sheath that has a clip on the sheath for IWB carry so that I don't need to wear it with a belt. Thanks guys.:D

I've had the WM1 for about 8 months now, and it's one of my favourites. It's a great knife - design is wonderful - it fits in the hand perfectly, the blade is the best i've ever seen, it's very sharp, very ergonomic, very lightweight, very comfortable. Fallkniven knives are highest quality you will find. For utility purposes, get one without further thinking, you will not regret owning one!

Take it from someone who always said that small fixed blade knives are useless when you have good folders:
This small Fallkniven knife is AWESOME!
It is so simple yet so refined that you cannot find any faults with it. The VG10 blade is very good, but the point that makes it better than comparable sized folders is its handle. Being solid (without having to leave a space for the blade to return), it fits your hand in a way impossible for a folder. Absolutely great utility knife.

Haa..I used to say the same thing, until i got the REKAT Pikuni. Great little worker with a real nice Concealex sheath. i also have a WM-1 and think it is a heckuva fine blade. Handle'em both if you get the chance.

Hey Big... Umm Big Bass..:)

The WM is one Hell of a little knife...
You won't be dissapointed with it at all....

As far as sheaths go, drop me a note and I can set you up with a multicarry rig that will do Whatever you want it to.....

Great little knife, Takes an excellent edge.

I've got 3 Fallkniven's and they are all top notch.

I would avoid the Kydex sheath and go for the leather. Their Kydex leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm in the process now of making some sheaths in Concealex for mine. Maybe I'll throw up a pic when it's done.

Normark does great work, I've had one of his sheaths and the F&F is top notch.

:D

Thanks so much guys. Now I just wanted to know where you think I should get the WM1 for the best price and service? Thanks. Also, if I was interested in the Pikuni, where could I find it in ATS34 and not D2?

One positive vote more!
This is the only knife I can arm my wife with going outdoors :D

BTW, you can use it for belt carry with also the original neck sheath. Just put the sheath between your belt and pant waistband and warp the cord around your belt.

Talk to Roger at Bayou Laforche www.knifeworks.com

His prices are always good and they are top notch.

They just started carrying Fallkniven so they may or may not have one.

Also check www.discountknives.com the same goes here, very good prices and service.

Not sure about the Pikuni in ATS-34, sorry.

REKAT Pikuni is only available in the D2E, but this steel is pretty stain resistant and seems to cut forever. The WM definitely is another good little knife for general use, and I'm also doing after market sheaths for it for those interested.

The WM1 is an outstanding small knife and contrary to some of the other's comments, I like the neck sheath it came with. I have six Fallkniven knives so as you can see I like their quality and they act just like knives are supposed to act!

Ron,

I'm gonna have to agree with you on the factory neck sheath for the WM 1. A long, long time ago, way before they offered them, I made a WM 1 neck sheath for a Forumite (Sing, I think) and lately had a few others suggest I should get one so I could add this item to my catalog. After I picked a couple up, I was pleasantly surprised at the factory offering. The edges were done right (a main factory failing) for next to the body wear, and the tension holding the knife was also appropriate. While I would do a couple of things a little different (just my particular style), the neck sheath that comes with the knife is not bad at all.

The WM1 is sized right. Not too big nor too heavy for neck carry. But perhaps just a bit short to sit in a IWB sheath in my experience. I' ve found that short size blades just don' t provide enough length/ surface bearing area to help stabilize the knife. But that may be relative due to different body shapes.

I use the WM1 in the kitchen as it is very corrosion resistant and easy to clean up. Its VG10 steeled convexed edge will sharpen up and hold its edge fairly well.

Bigbass, drop me a line.

I agree that the finish work on the sheath is better than most factory Kydex, my reason for saying that I felt they left a lot to be desired was based on the way they finish the edge at the opening.

I feel that any knife with a "rubber" (ala, cold steel, fallkniven...) guard should have a Kydex sheath with a rolled opening so that the handle does not catch on the Kydex on insertion, this increases the amount of wear to the handle caused by putting the knife in the sheath.

I also feel that from a pure value aspect the Fallkniven's leather sheaths are better than their Kydex and reduce the cost of the knife by about $10. IMHO, their leather sheaths are as good or better than anyone else's production sheaths.

I only have one specimen of Fallkniven's Kydex, all of my others were purchased with leather. Maybe I have a bad example. I finished 3 sheaths last night I plan to post tonight, I'll include a pic of my Fllknivens to help illustrate what I'm getting at.

Still, I feel they are some of the best production fixed blades going..

Thanks everybody for such great and helpful responses.:D I am very excited about the WMI now. My problem is this and if I have already stated this I apologize. For a primary blade when fishing, a neck sheath seems unrealistic because I would have to continue to reach under my shirt to get the knife as it not just a backup for emergencies. I would rather have a belt clip on the belt carry sheath but it seems that the belt carry models only come with a belt loop setup. The shorts that I use when I fish do not have loops for a belt so this won't work. If having a sheath made is my only option then I would go that route but other ideas or experiences with frequently using a neck knife would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bigbass;
When I wear mine as a neck knife (always) I wear a pocket T shirt and just drop the knife into the pocket where is slips right out very easily when I want it and the lanyard is still around my neck to keep the knife from falling out and loosing it. If you have anything with a pocket or button hole then you can just pass the lanyard through the button hole and store the sheath/knife in a pocket or just slipped inside of the shorts.

Normark makes a nice sheath for the WM1 with a "G" style clip.

I typically like a neck sheath when I don't expect to need a knife or I'm carrying a second one.

From what you described I would suggest one of two things...

1. For about $10 you can get a Blade Tech Tek-Lok. The WM-1 Kydex is not drilled from the factory to mount one, but that could easily be done by you. The Tek-Lok is a thermoplastic clip that allows you to mount the sheath to almost anything, but it does not work like a G clip for the waistband. You need a belt or strap of some sort to mount it. These are an amazing product.

2. The second option would be to buy an aftermarket sheath.

Here is one I just finished for my WM-1 in OD Concealex. It has the G clip because I also wear a lot of shorts without a belt. I prefer horizontal carry personally so that's how it's configured.

It's also pictured next to the factory sheath. If you look close you can see where I rolled the corners on mine to prevent it catching the knife the way the factory one does.

Nice looking sheath, I too like the horiz. carry since I am fat and the handle does not poke me in the belly!

:D :D Hmmmm, that's why I started making my own sheaths.

They are all perfectly engineered for belly comfort :)

It makes me sick to see al these skinny guys gutting the nice sheaths and pistol holsters, nothing is worse that getting a 'strawberry' under the gut from the butt of my Kimber, HK or favorite knife.
