The price is what I can afford, ive handled the leek and didn't care for the thin blade tip but felt solid otherwise. After looking around the skyline fits my eyes and im leaning in that direction. Are these decent for the price or is there something else that is a better value in that price range? Thanks

Steel Will Cutjack is probably a better knife. Same price range but has a much better steel. Also all around a more solid design with a good flipping action.

Main advantage of Skyline is it is a very lightweight and slim knife.

Sorry didn’t realize Skyline was using Sandvik steels (13c26 and 14c28n) both are excellent steels. Some people may prefer these to d2 as they are very fine grained and easy to sharpen. D2 is going to have longer edge holding but unlike the Sandvik steels is only semi-stainless rather than stainless. (Maybe something to consider if you live in a very humid environment )

Still I think the Cutjack is probably a better knife.

I say save another 10 or 20$ and get yourself a Spyderco Tenacious or Delica. Just my opinion.

Skyline is comfortable in the hand but I just did t trust the tip not breaking easily so I don't carry it.

Check out the Kershaw Chill it's another nice one to carry, it's comfortable in the hand too. I still mourn the loss of my store exclusive one that had thumbstuds and it's been 8 years.

Thanks lapedog, I'll look into those. Trying to do my homework before I dive in head first. I guess I'm like most people, I want to get the best bang for my buck.

The Kershaw Skyline is a very
popular model.
I like the blade shape, It's smoothness, & it's lightweight,
as mentioned.
I'm a little confused Lapedog Lapedog

-in your price comparison, to the
Steel Will Cutjack, which appears to be ~ 3 x the price, unless I'm mistaken.

The Skyline had a reputation as a great value knife.
But depending on what I was looking for in a knife, I'd look at the Steel Will Cutjacks, Ontario Rats (D2 or otherwise) or spend a little more on the Kizer Begleiter.
The Ontario Rat 2 can be had for $22 in AUS-8.
The Begleiter costs $52, but is a good all around knife.

I owned a Skyline for all of two days.
I didn't realize you can't swap the clip to make it a lefty carry when I bought it. However, I gave it a shot anyway.
When you make it tip up carry, WAY too much handle is sticking out of the pocket for my liking. I still tried it in my right front pocket.
The flipping action is absolutely pathetic. The detent outright sucks. Which is why I moved the clip back to tip down and put it back in my left pocket.
It cut fairly well, but I found it uncomfortable in my L/XL hands.
So I gave it away.

If you are looking for possible alternatives My top would be the aforementioned Cutjack, Cutjack Mini or Modus. All from Steel Will

The others I would suggest are from Keshaw. The Link and Dividend are great EDC knives at a similar price. The classic Cryo is now available in D2 and worth a look as well.

There are two versions of the cutjack. The more expensive one has m390 steel. You want to look for the d2 cutjack model.

I own an s30v skyline with cf handles for years and can't see me selling it.
Even though i have better and more expensive knives it is my main edc at work.
I find it's blade shape very usefull and love the sleek design.
It flips great also.

The skyline is a good knife in my opinion. However you might want to look at the byrd raven 2. I've owned both and I think the raven 2 is a better knife. The price is within just a few dollars of each other. Either would make a great edc. Good luck and enjoy whichever knife you may get.

The Skyline is a good small knife tool but not known as a good consistant flipper. I gave mine away. It was useful as an edc and small and light. But there are better knives for the money. Mine was in s30v and carbonfiber. Looked good.

The Skyline is a good knife. For an alternative you might consider the Buck 112 slim. There are several choices of handle materials and steels, all at a reasonable price.

The one I had was nicely made, but didn’t flip worth a damn. I wound up giving it away. I like the Link much better.

You're Killin me here man, so many choices. Starting to look like i need more than one. Wait a minute,,,is this how it starts?
