I'm looking for low-cost paring knives. I saw a few old BF posts (View Post) with positive comments on Rada cutlery knives. I've used these a few times at my parents' house, and I really liked them, but I don't know how well they do in the long-run. I'm interested in how they compare to the low-priced Old Hickory and Kershaw kitchen knives. Thanks.

i lean toward the old hickory line but that being said i've got a couple of radas that i've had for years and they do real well. just touch them up on a steel and keep going. the handle is a little small for me but i have huge paws, er hands.

I have a few. I like them. Very thin blades and hollow grind make 'em good cutters. The steel seems fine for what amounts to "junk steel" in the eyes of may folks on the forum. US made, inexpensive, and functional.

We have Rada kitchen knives that have been in our family for 40+ years, and are still being used everyday.

Countless trips through the dishwasher and still going strong.

Yeah, that stainless blade and aluminum handle ain't the flashiest looking stuff, but they are hard to beat.

The wife bought a Rada 7" slicer on a whim from a Pennsylvania "Amish" general store about 5 years ago for $4. An excellent cutter and the most used knife in our kitchen. Sharpens easily on a butcher's steel. This was one "bargain" that was really a bargain.

My wife and I recently purchased several Rada knives at the Dutchman's General store in Cantril, Iowa. The store is run by a Mennonite family and supplies goods to the Mennonites, Amish as well as the general public in that SE Iowa area. We've used them in our kitchen for years. My wife's favorite knife is a 5" mini chef Forschner with Fibrox handle though.

Knives might be ok but their Customer Service and order department suck. Foul up the order, argue with you and take forever to get issue straightened out.

WOW!!
That must've been some lousy experience to get you to create an account, just so you can necro a thread that's been dead for over 12 years.
