I want opinons about the Spec Ops survival sheath...this is the newer one that has the large expanding pouch that allows you to put a bunch of survival items inside.

Also, because it has Molle attachment, can I attach it to a Tunnel belt (internally webbed type of belt)...like the one found on REI sahara pants where only about 2 inches of the belt is exposed on each side (can remove the belt and run it through a typical belt sheath loop.

I have the Spec-ops Combat Master. Essentially the same thing but with a smaller pouch. You wouldn't even have to undo the belt because the split loops on the sheath unbutton. I like it a lot, pretty secure. I swap out whatever knife I'm using with it. One good thing to do would be to get a kydex liner to fit inside to better fit your knife, the stock plastic isn't that great.

They are a sleeper brand, not as well known as the big names of tactical nylon, but you really have to work hard to find a better than SpecOps Brand. (And work even harder to pay for it or carry it.) Their variant on MOLLE is a wonderful design, you can attach it to almost anything.

I had a Spec Ops Combatmaster and I liked it a lot. I also had a pair of REI Sahara shorts and they are the best hiking shorts I've ever owned. IMO, the shorts aren't the best for carrying a big knife because of the way the belt is but it can be done.

I've got the 8" Spec Ops survival sheath for my Fehrnam First Strike. Very comfortable to carry and the extra space in the pouch holds a lot. Highly recommended...

I have the smaller model for my BATAC and I like it alot. top notch construction and it is very versatile. I highly recommend it.

I've had a couple, they are great:thumbup:

I have the survival and I love it.I keep a base survival kit in it.(suture kits,band-aids,a multi-tool,bic lighter, pencil, small roll of paper.).It is currently home to my Busse Hell Razor.I bought the tan sheath then the Hell Razor witch is tan and tan fell into my lap and it is a match made in heaven.I also bought the combat commander for my Fallkniven S1.After seeing how the survival works.

I plan on buying the survival (small) in green for 1 of my NWA knives.I think the green micarta handle will look good with the green spec-ops survival sheath !!!Dang ,I can hardly wait for the sheath to come in & then we can wait together for the knives !:D

Most recommended!!

I have two sheaths with small pockets(Combat Master) and different lenghs.

You can remove the kydex insert and wash it, modify it to fit your blade by shape, thickness..
There is enough room even in smallest pocket for multitool, flashlight, firestarting kits..
Small is in OD

I've been doing a lot of fiddling with pouches mounted on sheaths and I've of a mind that a separate belt pouch is more useful and less prone to hanging up on brush. You can get more stuff in a belt pouch and still have better clearance.

I've been liking the idea of a separate belt too-- you can hang it where the weight is comfortable rather than where your pants fit. Web belts with plastic buckles are easy to make.

I have four Combat Masters. All are bullet proof. This one now carries in the pocket: old style Leatherman Wave, mini Bic, couple of fire straws, and a firesteel.

I'm glad people like it. When Mr. Wemmer asked me about designing a sheath, I gave him those specs minus the split loop. That was all him, and a great idea. I carry mine quite a bit, still using the same stuff, and a Ka Bar. I often throw it in my checked luggage when I fly, along with a Doug Ritter kit from Adventure Medical. That'll suit most things, anywhere in the country. If not, I can certainly build them.

I have several. Bulletproof and worth every cent. I get mine from TAD Gear most of the time.
