opinions on the Buck 55?

It seems like the right length and weight for EDC to my office. I have a Spyderco
Kopa, but they're so expensive/rare to replace that I hesitate to carry it. It's
not a drawer queen, but there are days when (knowing what I'll be doing) I'd
rather carry something of similar size, that's easy (and not expensive) to
replace.

BTW, I have a Buck 110 and an Buck Ecolite 112 - both are great knives! Just too big
for the office...:(

Thanks

Seems like the 55 series should be just right. IIRC, the 501 squire is the biggest of them all, with a 2 3/4" blade and is 3 3/4" closed. It's smaller than my William Henry TZ12 in all respects, and that is a pretty small knife.

I myself have a 501 custom in S30V coming in, and would recommend the same if you plan to cut some cardboard. That, and it's also nice to personalize your knife a bit with the engraving:D. Of course, I don't know if that's too expensive for you(just under $100 depending on your scale choice), but it's certainly replaceable if you don't mind the 4-6 week waiting period.

What are you saving the Kopa for? It's a nice knife; too nice to sit in a drawer somewhere, imo...

The Buck 55 is a great little EDC type knife. Love mine and it has it's turn in the rotation. I would highly recommend it (especially for office carry!)

My wife got me one for my birthday the first year they came out. It's been riding in my Mission Wallet ever since.

The Buck 55 is a good choice. It's thin and light enough to do well in dress pants.

Hi edb -

Another positive vote for the little 55 - half of a 110?

It's the right way to get a traditionally styled Buck into an office - and it is a joy to handle

I'm glad you like it. When buying a knife online I always like to see photos that show scale...sometimes dimensions can be misleading.

The 055 should be right up your alley it's great for the minimalist that want's a reliable traditonal lockback folder like the 110 in a much scaled down package.

I just got a 55 about 2 months ago after a lot of carry I cannot see what took me so long. I work in an office myself so I try to keep my knives smaller. I rotate around a leek, dragonfly SS handle, small buck vantage, Case peanut, Case small dr. knive, mini griptilian, crkt ripple II, and with jeans occasionally my delica if wearing jeans. That 55 has seen the most time as of late because I like how solid it feels, the weight and how it just disappears in my pocket. I think it is most similar to my dragonfly but with the added bonus of being MUCH lighter. I plan on getting a second one for a backup...love 55. My dad who is 67 was pleased when he saw it at christmas because of the traditional design when I said I should of got one sooner he laughed and said it would have saved me a lot of money if I would have just got a classic design like this in the firstplace ( I am sure he knows that would not matter)

Like some of the others, I bought the 55 because I liked the traditional 110/112, and wanted something similar to EDC. It's a nice knife.

A great knife for the price. Looks good, feels good in the hand, and doesn't take up much real estate in the pocket. Recommended. Those Buck folks know how to make a knife.
