i have a springfield .45 and want a rifle that uses the same ammo.

anyone like the marlin? reliabilty is a must.

are there any other rifles of any action that use the 45ACP?

thanks.............Bill

I have the Marlin Camp Carbine in both 9mm & 45Acp. Great gun! Never a problem feeding or ejecting. Couple of things to bear in mind: these guns have a blow back action, so they need to be cleaned well. You can't use +P ammo in them. The biggest drawback is that they have been out of production for a number of years. If you can find one, I recommend it without reservation, I really like mine. :)

The American Rifleman had a write up on them back when Marlin came out with them, and if I recall there was a little problem with certain loads. I think they work good with standard ball ammo only.

The Ruger carbines in 9mm are a great gun if you are into the pistol caliber carbine.

I have one in 9mm and it is very reliable and a heck of alot of fun to shoot! It takes the S&W pistol magazines so it is a great companion to the model 459 I bought over 20 years ago. I would love to get one in 45 as well.

I've read that the Marline is a fun gun, but plastic components make reliabiltiy a concern. Considering what's available as alternatives I'd pass on one unless it's intended as a fun gun instead of a serious defensive weapon.

For around $300 you can get a carbine upper that your 1911 lower would fit on so that you could use the same lower for both handgun and carbine. Pick up a second 1911 lower and you could have both.

Of course if you're willing to spring for a second lower and the carbine upper you can afford to get an AR. For around $750 you can get an AR-15 type rifle with a .45 upper. This gun can be had so that it uses Thompson or Grease Gun mags. The advantage there is that you can also pay for another 5.56 upper ($350) and have both a pistol caliber carbine and the 5.56 capability.
