Have any of you Dozier fans been able to order knives directly from them lately? I cannot get them to answer the phone or emails to order a knife. It is disappointing and I am starting to think I should just give up. I own some Doziers, but wanted a specific model or two I can never find.

Welcome to 2022, where you can't find many models, and getting someone to answer a phone and help you is harder than pulling teeth.

What model are you looking for? I can try and help you find it.

I’m looking for a K-50 Safari Skinner or possibly a K-39 Teton Skinner, a K-21 General Camp & Hunting, and a K-40 Sub-Compact Personal. AG doesn’t stock these models. I’m mostly frustrated at the lack of response from them. A simple we are too busy at this time would content me. I will just keep looking on the secondary market. I appreciate any leads!

I‘m pretty sure their wait for custom orders has been many years, for years now. How long are you willing to wait? 6 years?

You may already know this but A.G. Russell frequently has Doziers of various sorts available. Not sure if it’s anything you’re looking for though.

Honestly, your biggest issue will be in doing your research, and making sure that any Dozier you do buy is an actual knife made by Bob, and not his stepson* Dan Crotts. Dan makes most of their knives these days, and you have to check the logo on the blade to be sure which it is.

That said, there are multiple places to find Dozier knives right now. Since most of them aren't Bladeforums contributing dealers, I'll refrain from mentioning them.

All the factory pattern knives are made in the Dozier factory ran by Dan who is a son in law, these are almost all marked “Arkansas Made Dozier” in a small circle. Lots of factory patterns are designated with a “K” and a number lIke the OP is looking for.

Bob’s full handmades are usually Loveless patterns with the same football style logo as Bob L used saying “Springdale, Ark” or now “St. Paul, Ark”. Dan Crotts marks a lot of his personal knives with “CROTTS” along the spine but he’s got some with a script style signature as well.

Bob Dozier stated on here that he hasn't made a knife from start to finish in a long time. Dozier branded knives have been shop-made knives for years. That's how come there are so many avaialble.

Read my post above to tell the difference between the factory knives and Bob’s handmade knives. Bob has been making knives, the site just had a couple listed a month or so ago which were clip point Loveless style Utility Hunters, a standard size model and one that was a smaller 3/4 size. He doesn’t make many lately however and the descriptions for the knives stated this along with the fact that they will be even more scarce in the future.

This is kind of a moot point though, the OP is looking for factory made knives.

I know about the almost similar but different maker's marks used by the shop. Didn't think it was kosher. There is no explanation on his site for the different marks I could find. AG used to have an explanation on his site, but it was pulled years ago. But then at $255 for a NY Special with sheath, I doubt if the knife was even looked at by anyone other than an employee.

I didn’t start this post as a slam Dozier Knives post, more as a does anyone know how to contact them post. I feel they have a working man’s type knife figured out with their production knives, especially with the horizontal kydex sheaths that make the knives instantly available. I would love to have one of Bob’s folders, but I just don’t want to spend that kind of money on one at this time. I should just sell some Barkies as I’ve lost interest in them, and buy one made by Bob himself.

I emailed Dozier via 'contact us' on the main site several months ago trying to buy a half-dozen of the blanks that fill in the milled out recess for the pocket clip, like you, no reply. You might try using the email link on the 'available knives' page. I have seen 'available' knives marked 'sold' recently.

AG Russell has a few Dozier folders. I talked to Bob Dozier this weekend at a show and he had a few folders with him. I purchased an Arkansas Dozier knife from him but not made by his hands. It was the size and shape I wanted and the quality is outstanding. AG Russell usually has a few Arkansas Dozier’s and his hand made folders online. I will say Bob is a great guy as well as a fantastic knife maker but he is in his 80’s now so probably not a lot of hand mades coming from him in the future.
