Good evening

After months of reading this knowledgeable forum I thought I would register. Because every time I "Googled" a knife question I am directed here.

I'm a UK member and love slip joint/ traditional knives. I try and carry all my knives at work ( HVAC engineer) or just out and about.

I've been carrying my spear point , carbon rosewood otter messer for a few months. And really like this rustic workings mans knife.

But I have a huge itch for a otter anchor knife, or should I say 2 ( one in stainless and one in carbon).

I have seen a few different models, mainly to do with the wood handles.
So my question is is there much difference between grenadilla or bubinga wood?

Many thanks UK_si

Hi, and welcome! You will find that there are other European slipjoint fans on this subforum ;)
Can't really help you with a decent answer, but others surely will.
Stick around :)

Welcome to the board. I can't really answer your question as I've only ever handled one with bubinga which I gave to my Dad. He served in the Navy and is quite fond of the knife. Best of luck, and again, welcome!

Thank you for the Welcome's,
was just lost in the "what traditional ya' totin today thread"
Think I need another GEC. That GEC scout ezopen is just "wow"

Welcome aboard!

Oh .... the Otter Ankermesser - on my side you are crushing through open doors ;)

I really love this old german pattern and I´ve tried almost every available size and wood material.

I stopped at this one - it´s the big one in stainless steel

But I´ve tried the carbon steel one as well and you can´t go wrong with any of them. The carbon steel Otter is using is C75 and is a nice steel - takes a great edge and nice patina. But I really like their stainless as well.

Oh - the GEC #15 EO Knife is a fine example of a great knife - I love mine and carry it frequently

I´m a fan of sheepfoot blades :D

Some call him Papa Andi, some 'The Otter Herder'! :D

Welcome to The Porch Si
