Anyone use one of these knives for EDC? Now before I get chewed out. I KNOW HOW TO SHARPEN A KNIFE. So I’m not looking to skip that. (Although I think we can all agree sometimes it’s nice to not worry about it)

But looking for experience with it. I know it’s a great skinning knife for that reason. Always razor sharp. But as far as EDC. Cutting, slicing, not so much prying. But maybe a little.

I’ve resisted buying one for this long. But we have them at work now and that discount is toying with me.

I know it’s more on the slice side due to the thinness of the blades. But want y’all’s input.

Think of them as replaceable "outdoor" scalpals I would say it's ideal for meticulous cutting of soft material and super light duty utility
Think of it as a utility knife with outdoor flare. For the same price you can get a Chinese sharp finger and would vastly recommend that over outdoor edge or its comparison, Havana which is geared towards fishing

If you got an itch and can afford to scratch it ...

I went the opposite path with disposable box cutters and bought some Tuff-lite Cold Steel .

More pleasant to use , IMO and I always ended up sharpening those disposables anyway . :p

I'd never quickly toss away box cutter blades myself
They sharpen up fast

I knew a cowboss that used one as a castration knife. After awhile, he quit. Don't know why.

I had the Gerber, but didn't carry it. I tried as a folding utility knife, but it wasn't as comfortable as others that I own. I think I gave it away to a coworker.

I got a bear in Ontario last year and I believe the outfitter used one to field dress and skin my bear as well three other bears from other clients in camp. While the outfitter is undoubtedly very good at this due to experience (and I am challenged by dressing out a rabbit), I was impressed!
