Paging all owners of competition finish ratsies

I don't think any rats have come out in Comp Finish, only Busses. Satin yes, comp no... :(

The Choppy I bought at Blade 2010 is a 'competition' finish. It's not really a finish at all, just unpainted steel.

Rob... words... they are lacking.

Thanks a lot for that.

Is it way more prone to rust than satin, or is it as I think only a superb working finish (or lack thereof)?

SR101 is quite prone to corrosion. I have found the best way to combat that is to force a patina on it. I covered the knife in vinegar soaked paper towels for 30mins or so. The rest of the marks are 'love' marks from chopping. The dark marks are from camphor oil in the camphor laurel trees I chop down. When I put it away I make sure to give it a squirt with WD40.

So to answer you question about satin, I would imagine the satin finish would be more resilient to rust etc, but being the steel that it is, it will stain quite easily. It's a small trade off for the incredible perfomance you get from it.
