I know a lot of you are already familiar with how to use paracord to belt loops for your RAT knives. I came up with a super simple mod that really improves how these belt loops work. It is nothing earth shaking but it is effective.
I found that these loops worked well at keeping the sheath on the belt, but not so well at keeping the sheath in the same place on the belt. They just allowed the sheath to slide around to much. The answer is simple and you can use something you (hopefully) already have on hand.
Simply pass the paracord through a short section of bicycle tire inner tube so that the inner tube ends up on the back of the sheath. It is that simple. Now, when you use the cord lock to tighten the sheath onto the belt it really locks down. The rubber inner tube keeps the sheath from shifting on the belt during regular movement and especially when you are drawing the knife. Now you can carry your knife horizontally on your belt without the sheath sliding all the way to the next belt loop when you draw your knife.
When you thread it onto your belt, don't pass the belt through the inner tube. Just pass it through the cord as normal so that all of the inner tube ends up on the opposite side of the belt as the sheath.
Try it! And, if you don't have inner tube laying around, why not!?!?
