Greetings everybody,
What are your thoughts on whether a paracord bracelet should be with or without a buckle?

Plus, do you think a metal buckle is better than a plastic one, because it is more durable, or is a metal buckle less comfortable? Which buckle do you prefer?

Many thanks in advance,
BR

Definitely buckle. I can't seem to keep the others on my wrist. My one that I wear semi-often has a plastic buckle. It seems pretty durable so far.

I make and wear paracord bracelets both ways. Some without buckles need extra care or they do come apart. I stick with plastic buckles for the weight and cost. And they just are more comfortable to wear.

I don't notice a difference in comfort between metal or plastic, and a metal one should be more durable for obvious reasons ,but I doubt you'll break a plastic one very easily.
I found a seller here on BF that offers an adjustable SS shackle.
I've bought a few from others here on BF & off ebay and with the exception of 1or 2 (all with plastic buckles)they came either too small or too big.
The adjustable shackle solved that problem.I sent my wrist measurement & using the center hole it fits perfect with room for adjustment if necessary.
The shackles are SS & either plain SS or black, with three adjusting holes for approximately 1/2" of adjustability ensuring a perfect fit.
Get it with or without a name tape attached.

Supporting a fellow BF member is a plus also.

Just my opinion, but a metal buckle or shackle would last a lot longer BUT.

You get that survival bracelet hung up on a vehicle or hesco the plastic is going to brake, the metals not.

A broken plastic buckle may be a pain, but hanging there until your shoulder pops out of place or your hand comes off because of a metal buckle or shackle could hurt a bit.

Do what feels right, I personally don't like anything on my hands or wrists that wont brake if my body weight or some of my weight is hanging on it.

YMMV.

Every paracord bracelet I've made utilizes a buckle, especially a plastic buckle. Metal buckles are far too expensive.

Years ago when I first started makin' em, I used those itw whistle lock buckles. Now I own the Ashley book of knots. No buckles, no buttons, just 1 piece of cord. KISS.
